Flight Controls Engineer

Aquinas Consulting is currently looking to fill a Flight Controls Engineer job in Wilmington, MA. This DIRECT hire job is available with one of our key customers in the aerospace and defense industry. In this role, you will be responsible for developing control laws and simulations that maximize the performance of next generation high-performance rotorcraft UAS. In order to be successful in this position, you must have a Bachelor's degree in aerospace or mechanical engineering, five plus years of flight control systems experience, and a strong background in flight dynamics and classical controls. Preference will be given to someone with ArduPilot or PX4 experience and familiarity with CIFER and CONDUIT tools.

Flight Controls Engineer Job responsibilities:

• Develop control laws to maximize the performance of small rotorcraft.
• Work with aerospace engineers to build accurate simulators of rotorcraft physics and subsystems.
• Perform analysis to support design reviews.
• Plan and execute flight tests and analyze flight test data to validate control law designs.
• Support customers integrating payloads or expanding drone capabilities.
• Collaborate with other engineering disciplines on planning, design, and development of new products.

Qualifications:

• Five plus years of post-graduate flight control systems experience
• Bachelor's degree in aerospace or mechanical engineering
• Proficiency with MATLAB and C/C++ in an embedded environment
• Familiarity with system identification and flight control design methods
• Experience tuning control systems for electric powertrains
• Familiarity with extended Kalman filters and sensor fusion techniques
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed

This direct hire Flight Controls Engineer job is based onsite in Wilmington, MA. The annual salary for this role ranges from $130,000 - $150,000.
