The Fairfax County Park Authority (FCPA) is seeking a Vehicle and Equipment Technician II to be a part of one of the most highly regarded park systems in the country. With more than 25,000 acres of parkland, nine Recenters, eight golf courses, three lakefront parks, and more, FCPA is an exciting organization to be a part of and there are many opportunities for staff to make a difference at every level.
Greendale Golf Club is looking for a skilled mechanic that services, trouble shoots and repairs specialized turf equipment. Provides high level diagnostic and repair services to golf course equipment, large tractors, and other mowing equipment. Makes field and emergency repairs as required. Diagnoses, repairs, and services specialized equipment such as: specialized turf equipment and heavy equipment. Gathers information and completes diagnostic reports. Changes tires on all types of equipment. Uses tools and equipment to include, but not limited to, lift, parts washer, battery charger, and charging/starting analyzer. Performs post-diagnostic tests to ensure the equipment that has been serviced to determine if the equipment is fixed. Responsible for the appropriate handling and storage of hazardous chemicals while completing tasks and after.

Employment Standards
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to the following: (Click on the aforementioned link to learn how Fairfax County interprets equivalencies for "Any combination, experience, and training equivalent to") completion of the tenth grade plus four years of experience in problem diagnosis, repair and maintenance of a wide variety of light, medium, heavy and/or specialized automotive equipment. Related automotive technical education or trade training above high school may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis. Possession of a set of tools commonly used in the automotive industry, such as wrenches, pliers, and sockets and ratchets. Personal tools are required upon appointment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Background in golf course/sports turf maintenance and mechanical abilities within the turf industry.

Drivers license (required)
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
The appointee to the position will be required to complete a criminal background check, child protective services registry check and driving record check to the satisfaction of the employer.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to lift 50 lbs., frequently; ability to spend extended periods of time standing; ability to bend, twist, turn and reach, ability to work in environments with exposure to dust and noxious fumes. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
