THE POSITION:
This is an entry level classification. Under direct supervision, performs semiskilled work in servicing and maintaining fleet vehicles, construction and municipal service equipment; and performs other work as required.

ORAL APPRAISAL INTERVIEW (Weighted 100%): (Tentative) June 11, 2026.
An appraisal will be made of the applicants experience, education, training, certification, knowledge, skills, abilities, and personal qualifications for the position. A minimum passing score of 70% is required.

RETIREMENT: Benefits are provided by the Citys participation in the Public Employees Retirement System (PERS). 2% @ 62 for new hire Miscellaneous and 2.7% @ 57 for Safety (Fire & Police). Visit the Citys Retirement Info page for additional information.

In accordance with the Fleet Service Worker I job specifications, I understand and agree to comply with the following conditions: • This position may require certain State certifications or licenses (e.g., Haz Mat certifications) as needed to perform job duties. • If I have obtained any specialized certifications or licenses, I need to list them on the application under "Certificates and Licenses" and submit copies with my application (e.g., ASE Certifications). • I am available and willing to work shift work, including early morning shifts, swing shifts, night shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as assigned (with shift differential pay). • I am required to supply my own toolbox and tools (with a tool allowance provided). • I may be required to work at any of the City locations (Corporation Yard, Downtown Facility, or Mt. Vernon Composting Facility).
