Fleet Service Technician
Job Overview: We are seeking a dependable and skilled Fleet Service Technician to maintain, diagnose, and repair fleet vehicles and equipment. This position requires a strong heavy mechanical background, solid computer diagnostic skills, accurate reporting habits, and the ability to communicate effectively with team members, drivers, and management.
Schedule: Flexible hours, Monday through Friday.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform inspections, preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on fleet vehicles and related equipment.
- Diagnose and repair heavy mechanical systems, including engines, brakes, drivetrains, suspension, hydraulics, and electrical components.
- Use computer-based diagnostic tools and software to identify faults, troubleshoot issues, and verify completed repairs.
- Maintain accurate service records, repair reports, inspection documentation, and parts usage information.
- Communicate repair status, safety concerns, and maintenance recommendations clearly with supervisors and team members.
- Work with the fleet team to prioritize repairs, reduce downtime, and keep vehicles operating safely and efficiently.
- Follow all company safety procedures, maintenance standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
Required Qualifications
- Strong heavy mechanical background with experience servicing trucks, trailers, heavy equipment, diesel vehicles, or similar fleet assets.
- Proficiency with computerized diagnostic systems, service software, and basic computer reporting tools.
- Ability to document work clearly and accurately.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable, safety-focused, and able to manage priorities in a fast-paced service environment.
- Valid driver’s license required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Diesel, heavy truck, agricultural, construction, or fleet maintenance experience.
- Technical school, trade certification, or related hands-on training.
- Experience with fleet maintenance software, digital work orders, or electronic inspection reports.
- ASE, CDL, or manufacturer-specific certifications are a plus but not required.
