FLEET SAFETY SUPERVISOR

The Fleet Safety Supervisor plays a critical role in ensuring the safety and compliance of the Dollar General Dedicated Fleet. This position oversees the development and delivery of safety training programs, conducts audits and incident reviews, and analyzes safety data to identify trends and areas for improvement. The role requires in-depth knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, and CSA regulations and involves close collaboration with third-party compliance partners to maintain accurate and up-to-date driver qualification files. The Fleet Safety Supervisor also serves as a key resource for promoting a culture of safety across the fleet.

Job Responsibility

• Conducts new driver safety orientation, ride-along, and post-accident drug/BAT testing. (60%)
• Leads accident review processes and provides driver counseling following incidents. (10%)
• Implements and facilitates SMITH System training and remedial road tests per DOT guidelines. (10%)
• Builds strong relationships with drivers and maintenance teams through daily interactions and semi-monthly safety meetings. (5%)
• Conducts daily lot checks for equipment damage and ensures proper reporting and documentation. (5%)
• Promotes a culture of safety by evaluating driver performance, analyzing safety trends, and identifying training needs. (10%)

Job Qualifications

• Knowledge of FMCSA, DOT, CSA, and Texas tractor/trailer regulations.
• Understanding of paper/electronic logs, Hours of Service, and SMITH System.
• Proficient in written, oral, and presentation communication.
• Proven ability to deliver high-quality customer service and collaborate effectively in team environments.
• Skilled in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Work Conditions

• Flexible work hours and ability to work outdoors in all weather.
• 25% travel required.

Education/Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 2 years of transportation safety experience.
• At least 2 years of safety training experience with a medium-to-large transportation company.
• Public speaking and/or adult education experience.
• Classroom instruction and office experience preferred.

License/Certification Required

Current CDL preferred and must be maintained.
