    8am- 4:30pm, Monday- Friday

    Summary: The Ambulance Remount Technician / Emergency Vehicle Upfitter is responsible for performing ambulance remounts, refurbishments, vehicle upfitting, system integration, and quality assurance activities to support Trinity Health EMS fleet operations. This position ensures emergency vehicles are built, maintained, and remounted to industry standards while meeting operational, safety, NFPA 1917, and CAAS requirements. The technician performs mechanical, electrical, fabrication, HVAC, and interior installation work while maintaining high-quality workmanship and fleet readiness.

    Education

    Minimum: High School diploma or equivalent.

    Preferred: Technical training in automotive, diesel technology, electrical systems, fabrication, welding, or related field.

    Licensure/Certification

    Minimum: Valid driver's license

    Preferred: Specialized training in emergency vehicle upfitting, electrical diagnostics, HVAC systems, or fabrication techniques.

    Related Experience

    Minimum:

    • Experience in emergency vehicle upfitting, automotive repair, diesel repair, fleet maintenance, or related mechanical field.
    • Experience working with 12V electrical systems.
    • Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and schematics.
    • Mechanical assembly and fabrication experience.

    Preferred:

    • Ambulance remount experience.
    • Experience with multiplex vehicle systems including Whelen, Weldon, or V-MUX.
    • Aluminum fabrication and welding experience.
    • HVAC troubleshooting and repair experience.

    Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    Minimum:

    • Strong mechanical aptitude.
    • Knowledge of automotive electrical systems.
    • Ability to troubleshoot vehicle and equipment issues.
    • Ability to safely operate hand and power tools.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
    • Commitment to quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.

    Preferred:

    • Working knowledge of NFPA 1917 standards.
    • Familiarity with Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services (CAAS) standards.
