Company Overview

HCI is a national provider of occupational health screening services supporting corporations throughout the United States. HCI assists clients in maintaining OSHA compliance and protecting employee health through mobile audiometric testing, respiratory screening services, fit testing, and advanced data management solutions.
Our services are delivered through highly coordinated field technician teams and a national fleet of specialized mobile testing vehicles.

Position Summary

The Fleet Operations Manager is a hands-on leadership position responsible for overseeing HCI’s mobile fleet operations, field technician support structure, operational compliance, and day-to-day execution of mobile health service delivery.
This role combines fleet oversight, operational management, technician leadership, field auditing, and direct field participation. The ideal candidate must be highly organized, mechanically and operationally minded, capable of enforcing policy and procedure, and willing to actively work in the field operating HCI mobile units as needed.
This position is expected to function as both a manager and operational contributor, spending approximately 25–50% of time supporting field operations directly as an HCI Technician and mobile unit operator.

Fleet Operations & Vehicle Management

- Oversee daily management, organization, readiness, and operational status of HCI’s fleet of mobile testing units and support vehicles.
- Coordinate preventative maintenance schedules, inspections, licensing, registrations, repairs, and vendor servicing.
- Ensure all vehicles remain compliant, safe, clean, operational, and field-ready at all times.
- Track fleet performance, downtime, maintenance costs, fuel usage, and operational efficiency.
- Maintain documentation and compliance records related to DOT, OSHA, insurance, and internal operational standards.
- Work closely with approved vendors, repair facilities, and suppliers to minimize downtime and control costs.
- Assist in long-term fleet planning, replacement schedules, and equipment standardization initiatives.

Field Technician Operations & Communication

- Serve as a primary operational point of contact for HCI field technicians nationwide.
- Provide daily communication, scheduling support, operational direction, and troubleshooting assistance to field staff.
- Reinforce HCI operational protocols, technician expectations, and documented field procedures.
- Ensure technicians consistently follow company policies regarding vehicle operation, equipment handling, documentation procedures, shipping requirements, customer interaction standards, OSHA compliance processes, and testing quality standards.
- Conduct regular operational check-ins and maintain strong communication with field personnel.

Field Training, Auditing & Operational Oversight

- Conduct field visits, technician ride-alongs, operational audits, and performance evaluations.
- Train new and existing technicians on HCI operational procedures, equipment setup, troubleshooting, fleet expectations, and customer service standards.
- Identify operational deficiencies and implement corrective actions where necessary.
- Ensure consistency between HCI documented procedures and actual field execution.
- Assist with development and refinement of operational procedures, training materials, and best practices.

Hands-On Field Support

- Operate HCI mobile testing units and perform technician responsibilities as operational needs require.
- Provide direct field coverage during staffing shortages, training periods, high-volume projects, or emergency scheduling situations.
- Maintain working knowledge of HCI testing procedures, equipment, software systems, and customer expectations.
- Lead by example through active participation in field operations.

Qualifications

- 10-15 years of operational, fleet management, logistics, field service, or transportation management experience preferred.
- Strong organizational and leadership skills with hands-on operational capability.
- Experience managing vehicle fleets, field personnel, or mobile operations environments.
- Mechanical aptitude and understanding of vehicle maintenance coordination strongly preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively with technicians, management, vendors, and customers.
- Strong problem-solving ability and adaptability in fast-paced operational environments.
- Willingness to travel and actively participate in field operations nationwide.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, scheduling systems, operational reporting, and fleet management tools preferred.
