About the position:Brindlee Mountain Fire Apparatus (BMFA) is hiring a Fleet Mechanic who provides preventive maintenance and repairs on fleet vehicles as assigned by the Fleet Manager.Location: Tempe, AZPay Range: $24.00-$38.00 per hourStart Date: Immediate AvailabilityResponsibilities:Perform front line mechanical inspections, preventive maintenance and electrical repairs on both diesel and gasoline vehicles per Brindlee Mountain Fire Apparatus (BMFA) Policy and ProceduresRespond to vehicle breakdowns in the field when requestedComplete all required vehicle repair and maintenance paperwork and documentation using BMFA repair work orders and BMFA Fleet Maintenance SoftwareRespond promptly to road calls, accurately diagnose, and perform quality repairsThoroughly document vehicle repairs and maintenance including a complete accounting of all labor hours, parts, and materials usedProvide excellent customer service and maintain a respectful working relationship with all fleet and operations personnel; display professional conduct with outside suppliers and contactsIdentify and report existing and potential safety concerns to Fleet SupervisionRotating On-Call shiftsShared responsibility of parts ordering and researchShared responsibility of light administrative dutiesMinimum Required Qualifications:Must have a high school diploma or equivalent educationMust have four years of verifiable experience as a Class C - Associate Mechanic, and automotive knowledge and skills necessary to perform maintenance and repairs on company vehiclesPreferred to have ASE and/or EVT CertificationsMust be willing to obtain ASE and EVT CertificationsMust have a current and valid Driver's LicenseCDL preferred but not requiredMust have a full set of personal tools needed to complete basic automotive repairs:Ratchets: 1/4", 3/8", 1/2" DriveSockets: SAE and Metric, Standard and DeepExtensions: Short, Medium, Long - 1/4", 3/8", 1/2" Drive1/2" Drive Impact Wrench that can R &R wheelsCombination Wrenches: 1/4" thru 1-1/8" and 6MM thru 24MMScrewdrivers: Flat blade, small/med/large & Phillips, 0, #1, #2Pliers: Channel lock, long nose, linesman, wire strippers, crimpersPunches: Straight, Center Punch, chiselsHammers: Ball pein, dead blow, soft, sledgePickle ForksOil Filter WrenchTest light, LED (Power probe or similar is fine)Multimeter: Voltage-OHMS-AMPSMechanics Toolbox on WheelsBenefits:Health, Vision, Dental InsuranceEmployer Paid Life Insurance, Short & Long Term Disability, AD&D401(k) w/ MatchingPaid Time Off (PTO)Certification Bonus ProgramTool AllowanceFitness ReimbursementEmployee Assistance Program (EAP)Professional and Personal Development Assistance
