Internal Notice for Teamster Team Members: This posting will create a non-probationary internal Teamster eligibility list and fill 4 vacancies for this classification. The current vacancy is in the Public Works department. The internal Teamster eligibility list will be utilized to fill vacancies for this classification, for up to one hundred and eighty (180) days. Non-probationary Teamster team members successfully completing the selection process will be placed on the internal Teamster eligibility list. All other team members including part-time/temporary employees along with external candidates may apply for this recruitment. These individuals may be considered after the appropriate recruitment process of the collective bargaining agreement has been followed. If the vacancy is not filled through promotion by a full-time non-probationary Teamster team members, the next opportunity for placement will be to hire qualified part-time/temporary employees and external candidates.

ESSENTIAL INFORMATION

• Pay Considerations - The starting hourly pay for this position is $31.32. Existing employees will receive increases as outlined by their bargaining agreement.
• Work Schedule - This position is scheduled to work 4 days per week, 9 hours per day, (36 hour work week) Monday through Thursday, 5:30am to 3:00pm. May be required to work various shifts; emergency call outs.
• Environment - Physical discomfort and exposure to moving mechanical parts, noise, dust, dirt, petroleum products, smoke, fumes, hazardous conditions and materials, noxious odors, and gases. Work in various types of weather and temperature conditions and with exposure to hazardous traffic conditions.

THE ROLE

Employee will perform all types of diagnostics and procedures in the maintenance and repair of

automobiles, light, medium and heavy-duty trucks, heavy construction equipment, small engines, and public safety vehicles including, but not limited to, motorcycles, fire trucks, and police vehicles. Employee at this level is required to be adequately trained and experienced in all procedures related to assigned area of responsibility. Applicant/employee must have own tools.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Two (2) years of full-time experience in the maintenance and repair of vehicles and/or heavy construction equipment.

Graduation from an accredited college, trade school, or vehicle or equipment manufacturer in the repair of automobiles, trucks, or heavy equipment may be substituted for one year of work experience.

Licenses and Certifications

• Must possess and maintain a valid Nevada driver's license and satisfactory motor vehicle record at time of hire, transfer, promotion or reclassification. Failure to maintain a valid Nevada driver's license and a satisfactory motor vehicle record may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment. If an applicant does not have a Nevada driver's license, one must be obtained within thirty days of moving to, or taking employment in the state of Nevada per NRS483.245 and NRS 482.103.
• Must obtain and maintain a Nevada Emissions Inspector License, 1G or 2G, within six months of date of hire/promotion.
• Must obtain and maintain a Mobile Air Conditioning Society (MACS) section 609 certification within six months of date of hire/promotion.
• Obtain and maintain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certifications, within eight months of date of hire/ reclassification. Must be certified in a minimum of two automotive and one truck classification from the ASE Certification Test Series approved by the supervisor.
• Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT) or EVT Master Certification preferred.
• Commercial Driver's License (CDL) preferred.

TOOL REQUIREMENT:

Must furnish and maintain own tool box with hand and power tools sufficient to complete all types of repairs routinely performed in this shop facility. A list of tools required will be furnished to the incumbent before date of hire/promotion.

SELECTION PROCESS

• The selection process will begin with a screening of the application/resume - The best qualified candidates will be invited to participate in the assessment process. The selection process will include (dates to be determined).
• Personnel File Review - Pass/Fail, Minimum passing score is 75%- All current employees seeking internal positions will undergo a personnel file review. The personnel file review includes a current employment status check (probationary/qualifying periods), and a review of active discipline and most recent performance evaluation. Employees with a rating that does not meet minimum standards may be disqualified from this recruitment process.
• Assessment: Pass / Fail, Passing Score 70% in order to move on to Oral Interview.
• Oral Interview: Weight 100%, Passing Score 70%.
• Pre-Employment Screening -Selected candidates for this position are subject to a pre-employment screening which includes but is not limited to local & state criminal history check; federal criminal history check via submission of fingerprints; and drug screening. *IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Background check processing may take 2 to 3 months to complete.
• Selection/Offers -

Note: Subsequent vacancies during the life of the internal eligibility list may require participation in an additional selection interview. The selection interview will be weighted 100%, requiring a passing score of 70% in order to be considered for the subsequent position vacancy.
