    About Doodie Calls
Doodie Calls provides sanitation services supporting construction sites, commercial and industrial customers, special events, communities, and disaster response operations. Our fleet is essential to delivering safe, reliable service across a growing multi-state operation.
We're looking for an experienced fleet maintenance leader to help us keep our vehicles and equipment safe, compliant, reliable, and ready to serve our customers.

    The Opportunity

The Fleet Maintenance Manager is responsible for the day-to-day execution of Doodie Calls' fleet maintenance program across assigned operations in Texas and Louisiana.
Reporting to the Director of Fleet, this position leads preventive maintenance, inspections, repairs, technicians, vendors, parts, fleet systems, and vehicle readiness for a busy commercial fleet of trucks, trailers, and specialized equipment.

This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who understands both the shop and the operation. You'll work closely with Fleet, Operations, and Safety to minimize downtime, improve equipment reliability, maintain DOT/FMCSA compliance, and ensure our teams have safe and dependable equipment to do their jobs.

    What You'll Do
    • Lead day-to-day fleet maintenance activities across assigned Texas and Louisiana operations.
    • Manage preventive and corrective maintenance for commercial trucks, trailers, and specialized fleet equipment.
    • Ensure preventive maintenance is completed on schedule and according to company standards, regulatory requirements, manufacturer recommendations, mileage, engine hours, and operating conditions.
    • Lead and develop fleet technicians and other assigned maintenance personnel.
    • Prioritize daily repair and maintenance work based on safety, compliance, operational needs, and vehicle availability.
    • Monitor breakdowns, road calls, repeat repairs, overdue maintenance, downtime, and out-of-service equipment.
    • Ensure safety-related defects are corrected before vehicles or equipment are returned to service.
    • Oversee required vehicle inspections and ensure identified defects are documented, repaired, and properly closed.
    • Support compliance with applicable DOT and FMCSA vehicle inspection, maintenance, repair, and recordkeeping requirements.
    • Review vehicle-related roadside inspection findings and coordinate timely repairs and corrective actions.
    • Maintain accurate maintenance, inspection, repair, work order, and cost records using Fleetio or the company's designated fleet management system.
    • Use Fleetio, telematics, and fleet data to identify maintenance trends, recurring repairs, downtime, and opportunities to improve fleet performance.
    • Manage relationships with repair facilities, dealerships, towing providers, tire vendors, parts suppliers, and other fleet service partners.
    • Determine when work should be completed internally versus outsourced based on capability, cost, urgency, and downtime.
    • Monitor repair costs, parts usage, warranties, vendor performance, and maintenance spending.
    • Partner with Operations leaders to communicate vehicle status, repair timelines, and fleet availability.
    • Support emergency operations and disaster response activities requiring rapid fleet readiness or mobilization.
    • Assist with vehicle deployment, transfers, upfitting, and preparation of new assets for service.
    • Support fleet due diligence and integration associated with company acquisitions and new operating locations.
    • Help inspect and evaluate acquired fleet assets and identify immediate maintenance, inspection, repair, and safety needs.
    • Assist with bringing acquired assets into Fleetio, preventive maintenance programs, inspection standards, and Doodie Calls fleet processes.
    • Regularly visit assigned company locations to assess vehicle condition, maintenance practices, compliance, and operational needs.
    What We're Looking For
    • 5+ years of progressive experience in fleet maintenance, commercial vehicle maintenance, heavy equipment maintenance, or a related environment.
    • Demonstrated experience leading technicians or maintenance personnel in a fleet, shop, or commercial vehicle environment.
    • Strong knowledge of preventive maintenance, commercial vehicle diagnostics, repair practices, and inspection processes.
    • Working knowledge of DOT and FMCSA vehicle inspection, maintenance, repair, and recordkeeping requirements.
    • Understanding of CDL-related vehicle requirements, commercial motor vehicle classifications, and inspection requirements.
    • Experience working with commercial trucks, diesel-powered vehicles, trailers, and/or specialized vocational equipment.
    • Experience using computerized fleet or maintenance management systems.
    • Experience managing internal and external repairs and working with fleet maintenance vendors.
    • Ability to understand inspection findings, maintenance records, diagnostic information, and repair recommendations.
    • Strong leadership, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced operational environment.
    • Valid driver's license and ability to meet company driving requirements.
    • Ability and willingness to travel regularly throughout Texas and Louisiana and occasionally to other company locations.
    • We'd Especially Like to See
    • Hands-on experience with Fleetio or a comparable fleet management platform.
    • Experience supporting a large, geographically dispersed commercial fleet.
    • Experience with both interstate and intrastate commercial motor vehicle operations.
    • Current or previous Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
    • Experience performing, coordinating, or managing DOT vehicle inspections.
    • DOT inspector qualification, ASE certification, or other relevant commercial vehicle or fleet maintenance credentials.
    • Experience with fleet telematics and vehicle diagnostic systems.
    • Experience with vocational trucks, vacuum systems, pumps, trailers, sanitation equipment, environmental services, construction services, or similar field-service equipment.
    • Experience supporting fleet integration related to acquisitions or new operating locations.
