Responsibilities:

Fleet Management

Oversee the entire lifecycle of the fleet, from acquisition to retirement, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

Inspect and evaluate fleet equipment, recommend/complete repairs or replacements, and maintain accurate records of inventories, assignments, and usage.

Coordinate maintenance schedules, track vehicle inspections, and ensure all vehicles are in safe, operational condition.

Monitor vehicle usage data (mileage, maintenance, cost of ownership) to optimize performance and reduce costs.

Manage patrol car assignments to maximize efficiency and compliance.

Address and resolve issues related to vehicles or fleet operations promptly.

Technology Integration

Maintain fleet management software and all aftermarket technology and systems in patrol vehicles.

Ensure technology systems are updated with current fleet data, assignment information, and maintenance logs.

Analyze technology-generated reports toidentify trends, inefficiencies, or compliance gaps.

Coordinate with IT or vendor partners to integrate new technologies into fleet operations.

Recommend and maintain building technology not under the purview of the Boone County Information Technology department.

Train staff on the effective use of technology platforms.

Compliance and Policy

Recommend fleet policies and procedures based on evolving needs of the agency.

Prepare and review procurement and budgetary proposals for fleet-related technology and equipment.

Serve as liaison between internal teams and external vendors or manufacturers for warranty and technical support.

Status:

Full-time, non-exempt, benefited

Working hours:

8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday - Friday. Occasional overtime and work outside standard hours may be required

Location:

Columbia, Missouri

Qualifications:

Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a high school diploma or GED.

Valid drivers license required; must obtain a Missouri drivers license upon hire.

No felony convictions, crimes involving moral turpitude, or other criminal convictions within the past two years (excluding minor traffic violations).

Strong written and verbal communication skills, including English grammar, spelling, and reading comprehension.

Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen.

Vision correctable to 20/40 in at least one eye and ability to use a computer.

Ability to communicate effectively with the public in person and by telephone.

Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug test and meet FBI and Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) CJIS Security Policy minimum eligibility requirements.

Preferred Skills:

Specialized vocational/technical school training in the field of automotive mechanics or electronic technology Strong knowledge of vehicle maintenance, safety regulations, and aftermarket law enforcement equipment. Strong knowledge of Windows based software and systems. Operational knowledge of audio/video components.

Starting Hourly Pay Rate:

$27.42 - $28.25 per hour
