Tradesmen International is immediately hiring experienced Flat Laser Operators for projects located in or around Salt Lake, UT. This is a first shift opportunity and the pay rate is $25-$30/hour based on experience and skill level. Job Scope:
- Set up and operate a flat laser cutting machine used to process steel
- Cut various steel thicknesses according to production requirements
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, work orders, and specifications
- Verify machine setup and material prior to production
- Monitor cutting quality and make appropriate adjustments when necessary
- Inspect completed parts to ensure they meet quality expectations
- Perform routine machine inspections and basic preventative maintenance
- Identify worn components, consumables, or equipment concerns before they create production issues
- Maintain accurate production and equipment documentation
- Minimize scrap and material waste
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Assist with training and developing less-experienced laser operators
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, maintenance personnel, and other production employees
- 2+ years of recent experience operating a flat laser with steel
Experience cutting multiple steel thicknesses - Ability to read and understand fabrication drawings and blueprints
- Ability to independently set up and operate a flat laser with minimal training
- Understanding of basic machine troubleshooting and preventative maintenance
- Strong attention to cut quality, measurements, and finished-product specifications
- Ability and willingness to train newer operators
- Reliable attendance and ability to consistently work the scheduled night shift
- Strong commitment to workplace safety, quality, and productivity
