Description

Under general supervision, the Fitness Instructor develops and delivers personal training and/or group fitness classes and programs while maintaining the safety of participants. The position will be up to twenty (20) hours per week, with shifts scheduled as needed between 5:00 AM and 10:00 PM, seven (7) days a week.

Posted pay range is the starting salary. Pay rate offered is based on experience.

Examples of Duties

  • Develops, directs, delivers a variety of fitness classes including group classes and individual personal training while ensuring safe and proper use of equipment and materials.

  • Provides effective coaching techniques and individual instruction to participants.

  • Provides a welcoming, inclusive environment for all participants by planning and modification of session content and method of delivery to accommodate individuals with a variety of abilities.

  • Communicates effectively with participants, facility team members and management to develop and meet fitness program goals.

  • Follows established safety and risk management policies and procedures and standard operating procedures.

Experience and Training

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent

  • At least six months of work experience in the fitness/wellness industry.

  • Preferred experience working with a variety of fitness levels and ages. Comfortable leading youth athletic strength and conditioning programs for participants ages 8-18.

Certificates and Licenses Required

  • Current nationally recognized certifications in either Personal Training, Group Exercise or Branded Instructor. Examples of accepted certificates include, but are not limited to NASM, AFAA, and Zumba. A degree in Exercise Science, Physiology or Kinesiology may be substituted for required certification.
