CSS, Inc. is looking for a qualified candidate to support the Fisheries Statistics Division (FSD) of NOAA's Southeast Fisheries Science Center (SEFSC). This individual will provide administrative support to manage and analyze fishery dependent data from the recreational head boat fishery in the Southeastern United States from North Carolina to Texas.ResponsibilitiesManage, organize, and maintain various fishery databasesPerform daily data entry, quality control, and analysisProcess and perform QA/QC on biological samples collected during sampling operationsUse data entry applications and software such as to summarize data and provide various reports and resultsPerform and assist with various data analyses in support of data requests and general scientific inquiriesParticipate in special projects including multidisciplinary collaborations within and outside the agencyWrite scientific proposals for extramural funding.Review reports, manuscripts and scientific proposalsParticipate in public outreach efforts and eventsAttend, participate, or present in scientific workshops or meetingsRequired QualificationsMS Degree in Marine Science or a related field; OR BS degree plus 3 additional years of relevant experienceKnowledge of applying basic concepts, principles and methodologies of data management and analysis of fishery dataProficient in advanced database software such as SAS, R, Oracle and AccessAbility to pass a National Agency Check (NACI) and maintain it throughout the duration of employment.Preferred QualificationsExperience managing and analyzing catch and effort information from recreational fishermenKnowledge of statistical concepts and theoryExpertise in data management and analysisThe role is contingent upon CSS winning the contract, please note it can take several months before we know whether this role will be filledAt CSS, we are committed to fostering an inclusive and merit-based workplace.
