First Grade Teacher - Ellen Myers Primary School

A Tennessee Public Schools First Grade Teacher creates a positive, high-quality learning environment by delivering instruction based on Tennessee Academic Standards. Responsibilities include planning lessons, assessing student progress in reading, math, and social skills, maintaining classroom management, and communicating with parents.   Requirements typically include a bachelor's degree and proper Tennessee professional educator's license. 

• Instruction & Planning: Develop and implement lesson plans that meet Tennessee academic standards and facilitate active learning in core subjects.
• Assessment & Data: Evaluate student progress through formative and summative assessments to inform instruction and track developmental milestones.
• Classroom Management: Establish a positive, safe, and nurturing classroom culture conducive to learning.
• Individualized Support: Provide differentiated instruction, including small-group work, to support diverse learning needs and behavioral intervention plans.
• Collaboration & Communication: Maintain consistent communication with parents regarding student progress and collaborate with staff, including IEP or 504 teams.

• Licensure: Valid Tennessee teaching certification with the appropriate elementary education endorsement (e.g., PreK-3 or K-5).
• Education: Minimum of a bachelor's degree.
• Skills: Strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills

• Full-time positions, generally following a 10-month or school-year contract with assigned hours.
• The role involves classroom instruction, supervision of students, and regular interaction with parents and colleagues
