Special Education Teacher – Secondary (Self-Contained Classroom)
Position: Special Education Teacher
Setting: Secondary School – Self-Contained Classroom
Schedule: Traditional K–12 School Hours
Contract: 40 Weeks
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Active or eligible state teaching license
- Appropriate Special Education endorsement
- Experience developing and implementing IEPs
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
- Knowledge of assistive technology and differentiated instruction
Responsibilities
- Provide special education services to students in a self-contained secondary classroom.
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Serve as case manager and ensure compliance with federal, state, and district regulations.
- Schedule and facilitate IEP meetings.
- Develop behavior intervention plans and monitor student progress.
- Prepare required documentation, progress reports, and service records.
- Collaborate with parents, administrators, therapists, and other school staff.
- Supervise and support paraprofessionals and other assigned personnel.
- Maintain accurate documentation and complete district billing requirements.
- Utilize research-based instructional strategies and assistive technology to support student success.
