Contract Duration: 9 months with the possibility for extension

Pay Rate: 100-105 per hour on a W2

We are seeking Senior Software Engineers to support and maintain the Facebook Live creation experience. This role is focused on production support and on-call coverage for Live creation surfaces, including troubleshooting production issues, resolving bugs, improving system stability, and delivering small to medium feature enhancements.

You will work across web frontend and backend systems within a large, mature codebase. This is a hands-on role requiring someone who can work independently with limited day-to-day direction and take ownership of production issues from initial alert through resolution.

Key Responsibilities

• Participate in the Live creation on-call rotation, including production issue triage, investigation, mitigation, and root cause analysis.
• Troubleshoot and resolve live production issues across web frontend and backend services.
• Trace issues across services to identify root causes and implement fixes.
• Own production incidents end-to-end, from initial alert and investigation through resolution and closure.
• Ship bug fixes, reliability improvements, and small to medium feature enhancements.
• Improve on-call health by reducing noisy alerts and improving monitoring, logging, dashboards, and runbooks.
• Write and maintain tests for critical Live creation workflows.
• Document production issues, findings, and solutions to maintain team knowledge.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong web development experience with JavaScript or TypeScript and React.
• Strong backend development experience building and debugging server-side services and APIs.
• Experience supporting high-traffic consumer products in production.
• Hands-on experience with production support and/or on-call responsibilities.
• Ability to independently triage, investigate, debug, mitigate, and resolve production issues.
• Comfortable navigating and safely modifying a large, mature, or unfamiliar codebase with minimal onboarding support.
• Strong written communication skills for asynchronous collaboration and technical documentation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with live video, streaming, or real-time media systems.
• Experience with GraphQL.
• Experience with reliability, observability, monitoring, or SEV/high-severity incident response.
• Experience working with distributed or globally located teams.
