Job Title:  Firmware Engineer 5
Location:  Redmond WA
Salary Range:  $70/hr to $90/hr on W2 

Introduction

Join our team to develop, validate, and support firmware solutions for upcoming hardware products, ensuring successful product delivery and launch readiness.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Must-have qualifications that candidates must meet to be considered:

  • 10 years of experience in firmware and embedded systems debugging, C/C++ development, PowerShell/Python scripting, hardware diagnostics, protocol analysis, and root-cause investigation.
  • Strong background in computer science, with competencies in data structures, algorithms, and software design.
  • Experience in large systems software design and development.
  • Experience performing in-depth troubleshooting and unit testing with both new and legacy production systems.
  • Experience with Xbox Accessories or similar device/accessory ecosystems.
  • Familiarity with BLE/USB and firmware-update/provisioning flows.
  • Knowledge of RF/radio (antenna diversity, RSSI), Qualcomm ADK/MDE, crash-dump/telemetry pipelines, Azure DevOps fluency, and AI-assisted triage/scripting.
  • Prior work experience at client or in the client's industry.
  • Applicants must be able to work directly for Artech on W2.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

Nice-to-have skills but are not required:

  • Experience with Xbox Accessories or similar device/accessory ecosystems.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

Key tasks and expectations for the role:

  • Design, develop, implement, test, and maintain business and computer applications software or specialized utility programs.
  • Gather and analyze system requirements, document specifications, and develop software solutions.
  • Fine-tune and improve a variety of sophisticated software implementation projects.
  • Analyze and review enhancement requests and specifications.
  • Implement system software and customize to client requirements.
  • Prepare detailed software specifications and test plans.
  • Modify existing programs to new standards and conduct unit testing of developed programs.
  • Create migration packages for system testing, user testing, and implementation.
  • Provide quality assurance reviews and perform post-implementation validation of software.
