Position Overview

The Fire Sprinkler Designer will be responsible for designing automatic fire sprinkler systems in compliance with NFPA standards, local Colorado codes, and project specifications. This role works closely with project managers, field teams, contractors, engineers, and AHJs to ensure accurate and efficient system design from concept through installation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design fire sprinkler systems using AutoCAD, HydraCAD, AutoSPRINK, or similar design software.
  • Produce detailed shop drawings, hydraulic calculations, stock lists, and fabrication documents.
  • Ensure designs comply with NFPA standards, local Colorado codes, and project requirements.
  • Coordinate with engineers, general contractors, architects, and project teams.
  • Conduct field site visits and verify existing conditions when needed.
  • Review project specifications and identify design challenges and solutions.
  • Support permitting and plan review processes with local authorities.
  • Collaborate with project management and installation teams to ensure successful project execution.

Qualifications

Required:

  • NICET Certification in Water-Based Systems Layout (required).
  • Minimum 3+ years of Fire Sprinkler Design experience.
  • Strong understanding of NFPA standards and fire protection system design.
  • Experience performing hydraulic calculations.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and fire sprinkler design software.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Preferred:

  • NICET Level I or higher
  • Experience designing commercial, healthcare, industrial, multi-family, or large-scale construction projects.
  • Knowledge of local Colorado fire and building codes.
  • BIM/Revit experience is a plus.
