    Chesapeake Fire Protection is looking for an experienced Fire Sprinkler Designer to create accurate, code-compliant, and constructible fire sprinkler and suppression system designs. You'll work closely with Project Managers, engineers, architects, and field teams to bring projects from concept to installation.

    What You'll Do

    • Create fire sprinkler system layouts, hydraulic calculations, and material specifications.
    • Design systems for commercial, industrial, and multi-family projects.
    • Ensure designs meet NFPA standards, local codes, and project specifications.
    • Review construction drawings and coordinate with architects, engineers, and Project Managers.
    • Prepare shop drawings, design submittals, and permit packages.
    • Work with field teams to resolve constructability issues and design changes.
    • Maintain accurate design and revision documentation.
    • Participate in design reviews and quality control checks.
    • Stay current with fire protection codes, standards, and industry best practices.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    What You Bring

    • High school diploma; technical training or degree preferred.
    • 2-5 years of fire sprinkler design experience.
    • Experience with commercial, industrial, or multi-family projects.
    • Strong knowledge of fire sprinkler systems, hydraulics, and NFPA standards.
    • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
    • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, or other fire protection design software.
    • NICET Level II or III in Fire Protection Engineering preferred.
    • Microsoft Office proficiency.

    The Job

    • Primarily office-based with occasional job site visits.
    • Prolonged periods of computer and desk work.
    • Ability to walk, stand, climb stairs or ladders, bend, stoop, and navigate uneven surfaces.
    • Ability to lift 25-30 lbs.
    • Job site visits may include exposure to varying weather, dust, or noise.
    • Strong visual acuity required to read and interpret drawings and specifications.
