We are seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to join our team. As a member of our team, you will work in a schedule-driven, collaborative environment, working closely with our clients and reporting to the Team Lead. You will work with multi-disciplinary teams of engineers and designers to develop fire protection and life safety design packages for industrial projects. Fire protection will be the primary responsibility for this role; however, you may also be cross-trained to support mechanical engineering scopes as project needs and workload allow. As a Fire Protection Engineer at Eichleay, you will apply your knowledge of fire protection systems, fire and building codes, industrial facility requirements, and mechanical engineering fundamentals to support practical, code-compliant design solutions. This role requires the ability to work independently on defined fire protection scope while coordinating closely with multi-discipline project teams.
Compensation: $115 - $150,000 *anticipated annual salary may vary based on skills, experience, qualifications and internal peer equity. The pay range listed for this position is based on the anticipated base compensation at the time of the posting.
Work Arrangement: This position is fully remote. Preference will be given to candidates located within 50 miles of an Eichleay office (Larkspur, CA; Orange, CA; Billings, MT; or Ferndale, WA) to support occasional in-person collaboration.

Experience: Minimum of 5+ years' experience in Fire Protection Engineering, preferably supporting industrial, manufacturing, refinery, chemical, or other process facility projects.
Education: Bachelor of Science in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
Location: This position is fully remote. Preference will be given to candidates located within 50 miles of an Eichleay office (Larkspur, CA; Orange, CA; Billings, MT; or Ferndale, WA) to support occasional in-person collaboration.

Excellent oral and written communication skills, including technical communication through email, technical reports, specifications, and design review comments.

Technical Competence:
Working knowledge of applicable fire protection and life safety codes and standards, including NFPA 13, NFPA 20, NFPA 24, NFPA 30, NFPA 72, NFPA 101, IBC, IFC, and applicable local requirements.
Experience preparing and reviewing fire protection design deliverables, including drawings, calculations, specifications, equipment data sheets, and construction packages.
Experience performing hydraulic calculations and evaluating water supply, fire pumps, hydrants, monitors, sprinkler systems, standpipes, and special hazard systems.
Familiarity with industrial facility fire hazards, hazardous area considerations, and coordination with process safety requirements.
Certifications: Fire Protection PE license required. CFPS, NICET, or other relevant fire protection certification preferred but not required.
Collaboration: Ability to form and foster collaborative relationships within Eichleay and with clients, partners, vendors, contractors, and AHJs.
Travel: Occasionally travel to Eichleay offices and client sites across the Western US (up to 10%).
