SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
An employee in this class performs regular fire inspections of commercial and retail establishments, schools, and residences as required under State laws and Town ordinances. Considerable public contact requires that the employee exhibit tact and diplomacy in seeking compliance with fire laws, codes, rules and regulations. The employee is subject to hazards associated with fire inspection, administrative, and firefighting work including working in both inside and outside environments, in extreme cold and hot weather, and exposure to various hazards such as high heat, chemicals, moving mechanical parts, electrical current, and working in high places. Employee is also exposed to atmospheric conditions and blood borne pathogens, may be required to wear a respirator and work in close quarters. Work is performed under the supervision of the Fire Marshal and is evaluated through observation, conferences, and written reports concerning the quality and effectiveness of work performed.
This position reports to the Fire Marshal.
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Possess IFSAC/Pro-Board or approved certifications of completion for or have reciprocity documentation for:
Firefighter II
Hazardous Materials Operations
NIMS 100, 200, 700, and 800
Fire Inspector I
Possession of a valid North Carolina driver''s license
Preferred Qualifications
Life Safety Educator I
Child Passenger Safety Seat Tech.
