Description

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Fire Alarm Service Technician to inspect, test, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair fire alarm systems in commercial and industrial settings. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring fire and life safety systems operate properly and meet applicable codes and standards.

The technician will report to the Wilmington, NC office and travel throughout Tennessee to service customer locations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect, test, maintain, and repair fire alarm systems and components, including control panels, detectors, horns, strobes, and annunciators.
  • Troubleshoot system malfunctions involving wiring, circuitry, devices, and software.
  • Respond to service calls and emergency requests to diagnose and resolve system issues.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, including cleaning, calibration, and battery replacement.
  • Prepare detailed inspection reports documenting findings, test results, deficiencies, and non-compliance issues.
  • Document service activities, work orders, parts usage, and customer notes using ServiceTrade.
  • Provide detailed inspection findings and material requirements to support repair estimates.
  • Communicate professionally with customers regarding system issues, recommendations, and potential upgrades.
  • Coordinate with service coordinators to optimize scheduling, materials, and work orders.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment while following all applicable safety procedures.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3 years of experience servicing, maintaining, and repairing fire alarm systems in commercial and industrial environments.
  • Technical or vocational training in fire alarm systems or a related field preferred.
  • Valid state-specific license(s).
  • NICET certification strongly preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Willingness and ability to travel 100% throughout Tennessee.
  • Strong knowledge of NFPA 72 and applicable building and fire codes.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, and work with hands for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in industrial, commercial, and outdoor environments that may involve heat, noise, dust, heights, and confined spaces.
  • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces while using required safety and fall-protection equipment.
  • Ability to safely use hand and power tools.
