Syracuse Time & Alarm is seeking a motivated and growth-driven Sales Engineer Trainee to join our rapidly expanding team in New York State. This role offers the unique opportunity to begin a long-term, commission-based career by learning the technical and sales aspects of low-voltage integrated systems. The Sales Engineer Trainee will support system design and client development while receiving hands-on training, with the goal of becoming a key business leader within the organization. We are seeking someone who embraces responsibility and views this role as essential to the success of our clients and communities-including hospitals, universities, and municipalities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Sales & Client Relationship Development:

  • Build and maintain client relationships by identifying customer needs and offering customized system recommendations and demonstrations.

  • Prepare and present technical proposals designed to meet client goals and industry requirements.

  • Work directly with a Sales Manager to develop strategic acquisition plans and grow the customer base.

Technical Design & Support:

  • Analyze customer requirements and design integrated time and alarm system solutions.

  • Ensure compatibility with existing infrastructure while complying with all relevant codes and standards.

  • Provide pre- and post-sales technical support, including troubleshooting and end-user training.

Project & Team Coordination:

  • Collaborate with internal departments to ensure a seamless customer experience and effective project delivery.

  • Act as a customer liaison, providing product feedback to support continuous improvement and innovation.

Market & Business Development:

  • Stay informed on industry trends and new technologies.

  • Contribute to business growth by supporting marketing campaigns and refining sales strategies.

  • Travel within Central and Upstate New York to meet with clients and prospects in person.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, sales, or a related field (preferred).

  • Experience in technology or network-related sales is a plus.

  • Previous success in solution-based sales of technical products or services is beneficial.

  • Proven leadership and ability to manage long-term customer relationships.

  • Willingness to travel within the region.

SCHEDULE

  • Full-time position with regular business hours, Monday to Friday.

  • Travel required throughout Central and Upstate New York to meet clients face-to-face.

  • Travel across the greater New York area required; relocation support available for qualified candidates.
