This role is responsible for the installation programming maintenance inspection troubleshooting and repair of fire alarm systems in commercial and residential buildings while ensuring compliance with applicable codes and regulations. Success in this role requires technical expertise strong troubleshooting skills effective customer service attention to detail and a commitment to safety.Key ResponsibilitiesInstall and program fire alarm systems including panels sensors and related components.Perform routine maintenance and testing of fire alarm systems to ensure proper operation.Conduct thorough inspections to identify and resolve fire alarm system issues and potential deficiencies.Troubleshoot and repair faulty fire alarm systems and components.Ensure fire alarm systems comply with applicable codes regulations and industry standards.Maintain accurate records of inspections maintenance activities and repairs.Provide professional customer service by answering questions and addressing fire-safety concerns.Respond to emergency service requests in a timely and efficient manner.Read and interpret blueprints technical documents and system specifications.Use hand and power tools safely and effectively.Perform other related duties as assigned.QualificationsValid Fire Alarm Technician license as required by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.At least two years of experience installing maintaining and repairing fire alarm systems.High school diploma or equivalent.Strong understanding of fire alarm systems and components.Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents.Proficiency with hand and power tools used in the trade.Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.Strong communication and customer-service skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Commitment to following established safety procedures and requirements.Preferred QualificationsTechnical training in fire alarm systems or a related field.Physical Demands & Work EnvironmentLift and carry equipment tools and system components.Climb ladders and work at heights.Work in confined spaces when required.Work in commercial and residential environments including offices schools hotels and industrial sites.Work outdoors with occasional exposure to varying weather conditions.Work in construction and industrial environments with exposure to dust and noise.Work occasional evenings weekends and on-call shifts as needed.COMPENSATIONThe wage for this role is 20 to 25 per hour based on experience and qualifications.As part of the DU Family of Companies we believe that empowering and investing in our employees as leaders develops an organization that delivers innovative solutions and services that create a superior customer experience.
