The Fin Press Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, monitoring, and maintaining fin press equipment used in the production of heat exchanger fins. This position ensures fins are manufactured to engineering specifications, quality standards, and production schedules while maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Set up and operate fin press machines to manufacture aluminum, copper, or other metal fins used in heat exchanger production.
Load raw materials into fin press equipment and monitor production runs.
Read and interpret blueprints, production orders, work instructions, and specifications.
Perform machine adjustments to maintain fin dimensions, patterns, and tolerances.
Conduct first-piece, in-process, and final inspections to ensure quality standards are met.
Use measuring tools and gauges to verify product dimensions and specifications.
Monitor equipment performance and identify mechanical issues or production abnormalities.
Perform routine machine cleaning, lubrication, and preventative maintenance tasks.
Record production data, quality checks, downtime, and material usage accurately.
Remove defective materials and report quality concerns to supervisors.
Follow all safety procedures, lockout/tagout requirements, and company policies.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area following 5S practices.
Assist with material handling and inventory control as needed.
Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, quality, and waste reduction.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED preferred.
Previous experience operating manufacturing equipment or stamping presses preferred.
Experience in heat exchanger, HVAC, automotive, or metal fabrication manufacturing is a plus.
Ability to read and interpret production documents, drawings, and work instructions.
Basic math and measurement skills.
Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting abilities.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand for extended periods throughout the workday.
Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, and repetitive hand movements.
Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
Manual dexterity to handle small components and assembly tools.
Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
