We are seeking a dependable Finishing Operator to join our client’s manufacturing team in Walhalla, SC. The Finishing Operator is responsible for performing internal surface finishing, deburring, and texturing of manufactured hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders.This position focuses on using flexible ball honing tools and abrasive bead blasting equipment to achieve required surface roughness targets and ensure finished parts meet quality standards.
Responsibilities- Set up and operate manual finishing equipment to run flexible ball hones through internal cylinder bores.
- Control machine rotation speeds and stroke rates to achieve required finishing specifications.
- Use honing oils and cutting fluids to control temperature and remove metal debris.
- Smooth sharp metal edges and remove burrs to help prevent seal damage during final assembly.
- Operate a manual bead blasting system.
- Load and unload materials and finished parts safely.
- Read and interpret blueprints, job orders, and work instructions.
- Select the correct hone sizes, brushes, and other tooling based on job requirements.
- Inspect finished surfaces to ensure they meet specified quality and surface-finish requirements.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Follow all company safety procedures and required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) guidelines.
Requirements- Manufacturing, machining, metal finishing, or production experience is preferred but not required.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and job orders.
- Mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Strong commitment to quality and workplace safety.
- Dependable attendance and a willingness to work 40 or more hours per week.
- Ability to stand and work for extended periods.
- Ability to handle large steel or aluminum components safely.
- Ability to manipulate and position heavy parts during the finishing process.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds consistently.
- Ability to safely operate blasting and manual finishing equipment.
- Must be willing and able to wear all required PPE.
Pay: $17.00/hour
Schedule: 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
