Financial Specialist Assistant

We are seeking a Financial Specialist Assistant to support the business office operations of our skilled nursing facility. This role plays a critical part in ensuring timely reimbursement and assisting residents and families through the Medicaid application process.
Important: Medicaid Experience Required
This is not a traditional administrative assistant or general billing position.
A significant portion of this role involves:
- Assisting residents and families with the Medicaid application process
- Gathering and reviewing financial and supporting documentation
- Communicating with Medicaid representatives and agencies
- Tracking pending applications and eligibility determinations
- Following up with families, agencies, and facility leadership to prevent delays in approval and reimbursement
- Maintaining a strong understanding of Medicaid policies, regulations, and eligibility requirements
Candidates without Medicaid experience or a strong understanding of Medicaid processes may find this role challenging.
Experience in any of the following is strongly preferred:
- Medicaid eligibility
- Long-term care Medicaid
- Skilled nursing facility billing
- Healthcare reimbursement
- Medicare and Medicaid billing
- Accounts receivable within a healthcare setting
What You'll Do
- Assist with Medicare, Medicaid, and third-party billing
- Manage accounts receivable and collections activities
- Support resident account management
- Assist with Medicaid application submission and follow-up
- Maintain financial and business office records
- Support census, payroll, accounts payable, and other business office functions as needed
- Work closely with facility leadership to improve operational and financial performance
Qualifications
- Strong understanding of Medicaid policies and regulations required
- Healthcare billing and collections experience preferred
- Experience with long-term care reimbursement strongly preferred
- Strong organizational and analytical skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Knowledge of accounting principles and reimbursement programs
