    Description

    Internship candidates can expect a fulltime onsite internship program, running from June through August 2027. This internship opportunity is offered in Milwaukee, WI. Candidates must be local to Milwaukee during the summer.

After application and initial screening conversation, interns are aligned interview and be hired to a specific team at NM based on their abilities and interests, providing exposure to real-world business perspectives through hands-on learning and substantial work. In addition to their day-to-day tasks, interns participate in professional development workshops, senior leadership Q&A's, volunteer initiatives, networking/social events, and more!

    Financial Planning & Wealth Intern

    As a Financial Planning & Wealth Intern, you will work alongside your hiring manager, mentor, and team to complete tasks critical for Northwestern Mutual's success. You will build practical experience at the intersection of financial planning, investments, and field support. You will contribute to real work, learn from experienced professionals, and see how Home Office planning teams help financial advisors serve their clients.

    • Support the preparation of financial plans by gathering and entering client information, reviewing planning inputs, and helping develop materials for senior-team review.
    • Assist with portfolio administration, investment research, reporting, and analysis.
    • Prepare planning-related paperwork, proposals, and other materials used to support advisor and client needs.
    • Contribute to projects across operations, business development, wealth management, and investment management.
    • Participate in weekly financial advisor calls and learn how planning recommendations are translated into field support.
    • Take on other planning and project work based on team priorities and goals.

    Minimum qualifications

    • Pursuing a bachelor's degree in business, finance, personal financial planning, economics, or a related field at an accredited college or university.
    • Expected graduation in December 2027 or May 2028.
    • Cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher.
    • Coursework or prior experience related to financial analysis, planning inputs, plan analysis, life insurance, investments, economics, or a similar area.
    • Interest in the financial services industry.
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
    • Authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer immigration sponsorship for this role.

    $30.00
