About the OpportunityOur client is a well established international industrial manufacturing organization supporting multiple business units throughout North America. They are seeking an experienced Financial Planning & Analysis Manager to partner with executive leadership and drive financial performance across multiple operating companies.
This is a highly visible role reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer and offers the opportunity to influence strategic decision making through budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and operational reporting. The ideal candidate will have a strong manufacturing finance background, thrive in a fast paced environment, and enjoy partnering with business leaders across multiple locations.
This position is based onsite in the Greater Detroit Area with approximately 20% travel. Limited remote flexibility may be available after successful onboarding.
Responsibilities
  • Partner with the CFO to support strategic financial planning and business initiatives.
  • Serve as backup to the CFO when needed.
  • Lead the annual budgeting process along with periodic forecasting and reforecasting activities.
  • Develop financial models and perform Financial Planning and Analysis to support executive decision making.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements and business performance reports.
  • Coordinate month end and year end close activities with the Accounting Manager.
  • Review journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and intercompany transactions.
  • Perform detailed variance analysis and identify trends impacting business performance.
  • Manage cash flow reporting and cash management activities.
  • Analyze job costing, labor, material, and inventory costs.
  • Review reserve calculations for open projects and slow moving or obsolete inventory.
  • Monitor accounts receivable aging and partner with internal teams to resolve outstanding balances.
  • Support annual external audits and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Maintain lease accounting schedules.
  • Administer the corporate credit card program.
  • Evaluate accounting processes and recommend continuous improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and financial reporting standards.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor Degree in Finance or Accounting required.
  • 5+ years of finance experience within an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Experience supporting international manufacturing organizations.
  • Strong background in budgeting, forecasting, and Financial Planning and Analysis.
  • Experience supporting multi state operations.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and Office 365 skills.
  • Strong analytical, financial modeling, and problem solving abilities.
  • Hands on accounting experience including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, and intercompany transactions.
  • Experience working under demanding deadlines in a fast paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Stable employment history demonstrating career progression.
  • Ability to work onsite in the Greater Detroit Area.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Masters Degree in Finance or Accounting.
  • Automotive supplier or capital equipment manufacturing experience.
  • Cost accounting experience including Percentage of Completion methodology.
  • IFRS and US GAAP experience.
  • Experience supporting multiple consolidated companies.
  • Experience with integrated ERP systems, preferably NetSuite.
  • German language skills are a plus.
