FINANCIAL COUNSELOR

Responsibilities

Valley Hospital is centrally located with easy access to many areas of greater Phoenix. We are between North 35th and 36th Streets, with East Earl to our north and East Thomas to our south.

Valley Hospital is seeking a full-time Financial Counselor to join our Team!

Job Description:

• Shift: Monday to Friday, 1:00 pm to 9:30 pm and Saturday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.
• The Financial Counselor will be responsible for reviewing the admissions from the previous day(s) to verify the accuracy of the insurance information obtained and entered by the Intake or assigned department.
• The Financial Counselor will review admissions from the previous day(s) to verify accuracy of the insurance information obtained and entered by the intake or assigned department.
• The Financial Counselor will meet with patients and/or family members to secure payment for patient responsible balances.

Qualifications:

• Education: High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
• Experience:
• Minimum of 2 years experience in Managed care.
• Must have experience with Medicare and other government benefits and ability to determine deductible and coinsurance.
• Must also have a minimum of 6 months experience in finances and collecting patients financial liability up front, admission processes, and collections procedures.
• A working knowledge of managed care; interpretation of insurance coverage plans, co-payments, and deductible schedules and payment plans.
• A working knowledge of computers and business software programs (Excel) preferred.

Additional Requirements:

• May be required to work occasional overtime and flexible hours.
