Position Description
The Financial Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and supporting the departments day-to-day financial operations. This position assists with budget administration, financial reporting, invoice processing, reconciliations, procurement coordination, and monitoring expenditures to ensure compliance with County policies and applicable financial regulations. The Financial Coordinator works closely with department leadership, Finance, Procurement, and other County departments to maintain accurate financial records and support sound fiscal management.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinate the departments daily financial activities, including budget tracking, expenditure monitoring, and financial record maintenance.
- Assist in preparing, monitoring, and maintaining departmental budgets throughout the fiscal year.
- Review invoices, payment requests, and purchasing documents for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with County policies.
- Monitor expenditures against approved budgets and identify potential variances.
- Prepare routine financial reports, budget summaries, and expenditure analyses for management.
- Coordinate purchase requisitions, purchase orders, contract payments, and procurement-related financial documentation.
- Maintain financial records, databases, and supporting documentation in accordance with County record retention requirements.
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reconciliations.
- Support budget development and year-end closing activities.
- Coordinate responses to internal and external audit requests by gathering financial documentation and supporting records.
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, local, and County financial policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with Finance, Accounting, Procurement, and departmental staff to resolve financial and budget-related issues.
- Assist management with special financial projects and operational initiatives as assigned.

Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Public Administration, or a related field.
Experience
- Two (2) years of experience in financial coordination, budgeting, accounting, purchasing, accounts payable, or related financial operations.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Knowledge and Skills
- Knowledge of governmental accounting principles and financial procedures.
- Knowledge of budget administration and expenditure tracking.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Ability to analyze financial information and identify discrepancies.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple assignments while meeting deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to maintain confidential financial information.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Salary
- Commensurate with qualifications and experience, based on 26 pay periods.
Employment may be contingent on passing a drug screen and meeting other standards.
