Job Summary
This position is responsible for insurance verification and authorization processing for transplant patients.
Must Haves
Professional appearance with excellent communication skills.
Hospital or clinical healthcare experience.
Working knowledge of medical insurance verification and authorization processes.
Strong computer and data entry skills.
Transplant financial experience is strongly preferred, with Heart Transplant experience highly preferred.
Experience in the medical field, including transplant and transplant finance, is preferred.
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Associate's Degree in a related field preferred.
An Associate's Degree may be substituted with two (2) years of financial experience, with at least one (1) year of transplant financial experience.
Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)
Bilingual fluency is strongly preferred.
Job Summary
This position is responsible for insurance verification and authorization processing for transplant patients.
Under the direction of the Transplant Financial Coordinator Supervisor, the Transplant Financial Coordinator (TFC) is a key member of the multidisciplinary transplant team. The TFC is responsible for ensuring transplant patients receive financial clearance by verifying insurance benefits, obtaining authorizations, counseling patients regarding insurance coverage, and providing guidance when coverage has lapsed or is insufficient.
The coordinator will analyze complex insurance information, communicate financial requirements to patients and staff, resolve insurance-related issues, and support process improvements that enhance patient care. The role requires excellent analytical, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills, along with the ability to quickly learn hospital and transplant-related systems.
