Financial Clearance Specialist — Ambulatory Surgery Center

Precision Care Surgery Center is a multi-specialty ambulatory surgery center in East Setauket serving patients across Suffolk and Nassau County. We're a small, tight-knit team where your work is visible and your judgment matters, no call, no weekends, no holidays, and a schedule built around a predictable surgical day.

We're hiring a Financial Clearance Specialist to own the front end of our revenue cycle. If you know your way around eligibility portals, authorizations, and patient responsibility conversations — and you'd rather solve the problem up front than chase a denial later — this is the seat for you.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Verify insurance eligibility and benefits for scheduled surgical cases, and confirm the center and physician are in-network

• Obtain and enter referrals and prior authorizations, and track them through to approval

• Calculate patient responsibility (deductible, coinsurance, copay) and prepare accurate cost estimates

• Call patients ahead of surgery to review their coverage, walk them through their estimate, and set up payment arrangements

• Collect pre-service payments and outstanding balances

• Maintain patient accounts with accurate demographic, financial, and insurance information

• Work directly with physician offices, employers, insurance carriers, and third-party administrators to resolve coverage issues before the date of service

• Partner daily with the business office, scheduling, and clinical teams to keep the surgical schedule financially clear

• Escalate coverage problems early so cases aren't delayed or cancelled

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Required:

• High school diploma or GED

• Minimum 2 years of medical billing, collections, or insurance verification experience

• Working knowledge of insurance benefits, authorizations, and healthcare revenue cycle

• Comfortable in Excel and moving between payer portals and practice management systems

• Strong phone presence — you can explain a deductible to an anxious patient without making them feel rushed

• Organized, detail-oriented, and able to juggle a full schedule of cases without letting one slip

Preferred:

• Ambulatory surgery center (ASC) or surgical scheduling experience

• Familiarity with workers' compensation and no-fault verification

• Experience with New York commercial and Medicaid managed care plans

• Microsoft Office Specialist certification
