    Job Summary:

    The Financial Analyst - Pricing plays a key role in pricing analysis across the business, supporting both customer pricing and broader financial decision-making. This position serves as a key business partner to cross-functional teams such as Sales, Marketing, R&D, and Operations by providing new item costing, purchase price variance insight, and forecasting support. This work translates ingredient cost trends and customer pricing dynamics into accurate, timely, and actionable financial data.

    Essential Functions of the Job:

    Customer Pricing & Profitability

    • Analyze ingredient pricing and update internal formulations to reflect current and future costs
    • Coordinate and manage new item cost estimates, including sourcing and outbound freight analysis
    • Manage the quarterly price update process, ensuring on-time delivery and accuracy
    • Proactively analyze pricing, including price point analysis, margin impact, and profitability
    • Assist in developing pricing models and margin analysis for strategic bids, working with Business Management to evaluate trade-offs across various scenarios
    • Support ongoing customer and product profitability analysis, helping identify margin improvement opportunities and track results

    Business & Financial Support

    • Gather and analyze ingredient pricing data, including monitoring and reporting of purchases and price variances
    • Submit reports and insights to relevant department heads and leadership
    • Identify patterns and trends in analyzed data, helping answer key analytical questions and surface areas of opportunity
    • Assist with preparation of the annual budget and monthly/quarterly forecasts
    • Participate in Commodity Reviews and provide resulting pricing recommendations, as needed

    Overall

    • Actively identify profit & process improvement opportunities
    • Prepare ad hoc analysis to facilitate decision making and planning and other project support as needed
    • Cross collaboration with other departments in both the establishment of valuable reporting and in analyzing and understanding results
    • Other duties as assigned

    Supervisory Responsibilities:

    • None.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelors Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or related field.
    • Minimum 3-5 years in an analyst role with a strong knowledge of accounting systems, planning, financial modeling, and business analysis.
    • General knowledge of manufacturing processes and practices a plus.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Expert in Microsoft Excel and Office products
    • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP, or similar)

    Knowledge and Skills:

    • Detail-oriented with strong analytical (qualitative and quantitative) problem solving skills.
    • Self-starter with strong organizational and prioritization skills.
    • Experience gathering and defining requirements, analyzing data, and delivering detailed conclusions.
    • Strong business acumen and a leader that can work cross-functionally.
    • Excellent verbal, written, and visual presentation communication skills.

    Additional Considerations:

    • Position will be based out of our Corporate Office in Eden Prairie, MN
    • Approximately 100% of the work is performed in an office environment (whether remote or at SunOptas office).
