Financial Aid Coordinator The Financial Aid Coordinato r will assist in all areas of financial aid counseling and processing to include Title IV programs (Direct Loans, Pell, FSEOG & FWS), state grant and institutional programs , which includ e scholarships , and all other aid as it relates to the financial aid programs. This position requires a team -oriented approach and will collaborate with various offices on campus to ensure the student receives quality customer service and financial literacy. The Financial Aid Co ordinator handles day -to-day functions of the office including meeting with students and families to discuss processes and aid opportunities, processing Title IV aid which includes utilizing COD, ISIR processing, VA certifications in collaboration with the Registrar , processing and monitoring Michigan grant programs, SAP and other functions required for implementation of financial aid programs. The starting salary for this position is $49,105.90 (Non -affiliated Grade 4/In itial Step) . Essential Duties and Responsibilities : • Process federal/state aid including importing/exporting files using the required software from the Dep artment of Education and MiLEAP (Michigan Student Aid) • Assist in the processing and compliance of financial aid for all GCC programs. Including knowledge of federal, state and institutional policies, rules and regulations for all functions of the financial aid process. • Counsel students and families regarding the financial aid process and financial literacy. • Packaging financial aid for all programs. • Process, r eview, and award foundation scho larship s. • Assist in the development and implementation of financial aid policies and procedures. • Coordinate the Federal Work Study program assisting with the development of appropriate job descriptions, posting, applicant files and calculating awards. • Functions as a liaison between Financial Aid and Information Technology to coordinate system support for the Financial Aid Office. • Assist Director with annual reporting requirements. • Assist in the m aintenance of all financial aid student records. • Assist in the processing of Veterans benefits, Vocational Rehabilitation, and outside agency payments. • Assist in the processing of Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) at the end of each term and academic year. • Attend and give presentations at events and community outreach ; some evenings and weekends may be required but are minimal. • Perform other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: • Able to manage sensitive information in a confidential manner. • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team -based environment, manage conflicting priorities and work under deadlines. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google suite of software applications. • Detail -oriented with good organizational skills. • Able to manage projects within deadlines. • Able to communicate effectively across cultures to build relationships and foster mutual understanding, both in person and in writing. • Willingness and ability to take initiative. Required Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree. • 0-2 years' experience in higher education administration, financial aid experience in federal and institutional methodology preferred. Preferred Qualifications: • Knowledge of packaging processes including verification, loan certifications, revisions , and athletic awards. • Experience and understanding of Veteran's programs, Vocational Rehabilitation programs. • Experience and understanding of Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) .
