General Description: The Financial Aid Coordinator provides financial services for students, oversees the administration of all aid awarding, and supports the Office of Student Financial Service in various tasks. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Assist in maintaining all student financial aid files by reviewing, determining and calculating aid eligibility, correcting and packaging students in caseload Identify methods of awarding aid in accordance with federal, state, and institutional guidelines Award federal, state, and institutional financial aid programs for all student types. Apply information from outside sources to the aid package. Apply information from Admissions regarding institutional aid to the aid packages. Serve as primary point of contact and provide financial services for both current and prospective students and families Counsel students and families regarding all financing possibilities, processing steps, payment options, and account status Assist in developing various brochures, information materials, letters, forms, and presentations Promote a positive image of Financial Services Office by making presentations about the various financial aid programs and associated application processes Position Requirements: Education & Experience: Applicants with experience in higher education may be given priority but there are no education/experience requirements to apply for this position. Knowledge, Abilities & Skills: Excellent attention to detailDemonstrated ability to work within a team environmentSet priorities and deadlines, ensure projects are completed and respond to questions/problems in a timely manner, organization to meet goals, reason logically, evaluate data, and recommend effective courses of actionsInterpret and apply program rules and regulationsDemonstrated experience working effectively with diverse populations and in conjunction with other professionalsExcellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skillsAbility to work with students in solving problems and planning a strategy for success in achieving the academic goalsAbility to work independently under general supervisionAbility to update, revise and develop new procedures related to changing tasksAbility to maintain confidentiality in accordance with FERPA and financial aid ethics Preferred Qualifications (not required to apply): Experience in higher educationExperience with financial aid programs or knowledge of US Department of Education systems and websitesKnowledge of federal, state and institutional financial aid regulations Typical Physical Demands: · Ability to climb several flights of stairs several times each day. · Ability to lift, push or pull up to 20 pounds. · Ability to sit or stand for long periods. · Ability to speak and read English fluently. · Ability to hear. · Ability to travel. · Must possess a valid Missouri driver's license and adhere to the WWU vehicle policy. Work Schedule: This is a non-exempt position, 40+ hours per week, 12-month in-office position. Occasional evening or weekend hours during special events on campus is required.
