Job Summary
The Financial Aid Compliance Coordinator exists to safeguard the institution''s administration of financial aid programs by ensuring adherence to federal, state, and institutional requirements. This position supports the integrity, accountability, and effectiveness of financial aid operations by promoting compliance, minimizing regulatory risk, and helping maintain eligibility for financial aid funding. The role provides expertise on regulatory matters, supports informed decision-making, and fosters a culture of compliance that protects both the institution and the students it serves.
Duties
- Identifies and assesses areas of regulatory risk and potential compliance concerns within financial aid operations and processes
- Conducts ongoing reviews and evaluations of operational activities to ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and institutional requirements
- Develops, implements, and monitors internal control processes designed to maintain compliance and support effective financial aid administration
- Researches, interprets, and communicates federal and state regulations, providing guidance and training to staff on regulatory requirements and policy changes
Marginal Duties
- Coordinates compliance reviews and audit activities with internal auditors, external auditors, and regulatory agencies, including state and federal oversight entities
- Maintains and updates departmental policies and procedures to ensure alignment with current regulations, operational practices, and compliance standards
Required Qualifications
Education:
Education:
- Three (3) years of experience in financial aid regulatory policies
License/Certification:
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using PeopleSoft
- Demonstrates audit experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge:
- Requires thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline
- Has basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline
Skills:
- Demonstrates effective auditing skills
Abilities:
- Has the ability to conduct extensive research
- Ability to analyze and interpret data
- Can effectively communicate regulatory requirements
Work Location and Physical Demands
Primary Work Location:
- Works in an office environment
Physical Demands:
- Work is performed in a typical interior work environment which does not subject the employee to any unpleasant elements; individual has discretion in relation to walking, standing etc., and has minimal exposure to physical risks
- Must have precise hand-eye coordination and the ability to identify and distinguish colors
- Must have the ability to move items of up to 25lbs
