Position: Financial Administrator

Entity: Clinical Practices of University of Pennsylvania

Department: Med Division of Sleep Medicine

Location: Penn Sleep Center, 3624 Market St

Hours: Full Time

Summary:

The Financial Administrator works with senior Division leadership, Hospital Finance, CPUP Finance, and external third parties (if applicable) to analyze, budget and manage existing lines of service and evaluate new opportunities. Constant evaluation and refinement of financial and operational processes as they relate to the goals of the program is an important function. The position works with Penn Medicine Managed Care as well as HUP, CPUP and DOM billing departments to ensure a high level of accuracy, compliance and efficiency. Proactive assessment of revenue and expense implications associated with evolving business models and vendor relationships also plays a key role in daily activities. This individual is also called upon to participate in special projects from time to time that may require informal market research, complex proforma projections, Penn Facilities and outside landlord relations. Provide financial, operational, and analytical decision support for assigned Divisions.

Responsibilities:

DOM Finance Duties:

  • Work with assigned Divisional Directors of Administration and other divisional leadership to support financial planning and reporting.
  • Prepares monthly journal entries.
  • Reconciles and performs analysis of activity within assigned accounts.
  • Prepares supporting schedules for monthly financial statements.
  • Prepare monthly presentation for Financial and Ops meeting.
  • Work with Department Management in development of annual budgets.
  • Maintain reports relating to internal and external audits.
  • Prepares line item data entry of expenses for annual budgets.
  • Prepare monthly variance analysis submitted to CPUP Finance.
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet analysis submitted to CPUP Finance.

Sleep Center/Division Duties:

  • Lead Sleep Lab budgeting efforts for DOM and Hospital.
  • Prepare and analyze HUP and DOM performance to budget reports.
  • Prepare, analyze, and distribute monthly Penn Sleep Centers financial to HUP & DOM, productivity reports to Sleep Division (faculty) and DOM.
  • Participate in financial based and non-financial based projects from time to time. Projects include business feasibility analysis, sensitivity analysis and cost assessments and comparisons.
  • Manage capital budgeting and processing and maintain building and equipment leases, as necessary.
  • Prepare monthly Sleep Lab P&L of technical revenue for distribution to HUP.
  • Prepare quarterly financial reconciliations - P&L to cash collected & submit to HUP for distribution of funds to the Sleep Division & the Center for Sleep.
  • Manage hospital AR and work with biller and patient accounting to identify and correct any systemic payor or collection issues timely.
  • Prepare CCA Invoices for Sleep Interpretation payments.

Education or Equivalent Experience:

  • Bachelor of Arts or Science degree in Accounting/Finance or Equivalent (Required).
  • 3+ years Accounting and budgeting experience (Required).
  • Knowledge of healthcare accounting (Preferred).
  • Experience with Lawson (or similar) General Ledger, and EPIC Patient Accounting or similar (Required).
  • Excellent computer skills required; proficient with Microsoft Excel, Access, and Word processing software (Required).

Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent computer skills - Proficient in Microsoft Excel (Required).
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, written and verbal (Required).
  • Ability to prioritize and execute multiple assignments with minimal direction, positive team player, rigorous attention to detail (Required).
  • Healthcare accounting/finance experience (Preferred).
