Financial Accounting Specialist I

1st Advantage Federal Credit Union is currently seeking a full-time Financial Accounting Specialist I to support our Financial Accounting Department. Scheduled hours will be 40 hours per week between the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The Financial Accounting Specialist I is responsible for analyzing and reconciling detailed general ledger accounts, daily work, end of the month reports, and financial reconciliations as assigned. Performs all accounts payable functions. Keeps records and accounts accurate and current. Position researches and resolves outages, discrepancies, and accounting errors. Completes related reports, summaries, and records. Performs clerical duties and assists with financial accounting functions as required.

Financial Accounting Specialist I - Essential Functions & Responsibilities
Performance Measurement
a. Assists other Financial Accounting Department colleagues as required.
b. Performs departmental cross-training as required.
c. Attend and participate in meetings as required.
d. Keeps supervisor informed of area activities and of any significant problems.
e. Performs clerical duties as assigned.
f. Completes special projects as required.
g. Ensures that work area is clean, secure, and well maintained.
Qualifications:
Experience One year to three years of similar or related experience. Knowledge of basic accounting concepts and procedures, including account reconciliations. Knowledge of related computer applications.
Education A two-year degree in accounting or related field, or equivalent experience.
Interpersonal Skills
Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for the purpose of first-level conflict resolution, building relationships, and soliciting cooperation. Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication.
Other Skills
Well organized and detail oriented. Good math skills. Attentive to detail and accurate. Able to use PC, calculator, and other basic business machines.
Physical Requirements
Talking - Effective verbal communication to convey and acknowledge receiving detailed or important instructions, accurately, loudly, or quickly.
Average Hearing - Able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information to communicate effectively.
Finger Dexterity - Using primarily just the fingers to make small movements such as typing, picking up small objects or pinching fingers together to use office equipment such as phones, computers, scanners, and other office machinery.
Repetitive Motion - Movements frequently and regularly required using the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
Average Visual Abilities - Average, ordinary visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents, read email and computer screens, and operate office machinery.
Physical Strength - Sedentary work; sitting at a desk or workstation a majority of work hours. Exerts up to 25lbs. of force occasionally and required to lift up to 25lbs.
Reaching and Stretching - Reaching and stretching, below the shoulders, to access files, checks, documents, or office equipment on and across shelves, counter, and desks.
