Summary
Performs tasks related to the upkeep of external local, state and federal programs under the supervision of the Grants Fiscal Officer. Serves as liaison between the Finance Department, State Department of Education, and Program Coordinators/Supervisors.

The essential functions for the position of Finance Specialist III - Grants include the physical and mental involvement requirements noted in this position description in addition to regular reliable attendance given the limited number of employees available to perform the essential functions of this position. It is also essential that he/she be able to follow the directives of superiors ensuring the harmonious operation of the department.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
Graduation from high school with at least three years experience as a secretary or bookkeeper in a large business or public agency. Ability to exercise judgment in making decisions in accordance with policies and practices of the department. Ability to supervise the work of others as well as establish routines to handle the everyday work of the department. Ability to perform and understand analytical operations and financial calculations and work under the pressure of deadlines. Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Word.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret legal documents. Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
