    Description

Own the controllership, governance, and allocations of Amazon"s largest cost pools in Historical Contribution Profit (HCP) - Operations accounts spanning Fulfillment Center Variable, FC Fixed, Central Fixed, Inbound Freight, and Shipping Costs. We"re hiring a Finance Manager to join Profit Intelligence Finance (PIF) as the owner of WW Operations cost in CP, responsible for ensuring allocation accuracy between CP and Cognos across all Operations cost lines worldwide. You will lead the audit, validation, and governance of Operations allocation methodologies in HCP, partner directly with Operations Finance to drive alignment across financial systems, and serve as the single point of accountability for Operations cost accuracy within the CP ecosystem. This role sits at the center of Amazon"s financial integrity infrastructure - ensuring that the largest cost lines are accurate, consistent, and trusted.

    Key job responsibilities

    • Operations CP-to-Cognos Bridge Ownership: Own the CP-to-Cognos bridge for all Operations cost lines (FC Variable, FC Fixed, Central Fixed, Inbound Freight, and Shipping Costs. Identify, classify, and quantify variances between CP and Cognos at component level. Drive unexplained variances to root cause and resolution through structured engagement with Marketplace STOs and Operations Finance partners.
    • Audit Framework & Execution: Design and execute targeted component audits for Operations cost lines when material CP-to-Cognos variances or accuracy opportunities are identified. Conduct deep-dive analyses of allocation methodologies, rates, mappings, and source data. Document findings with quantified financial impact and recommended remediation actions. Track remediation through to completion.
    • Allocation Methodology Governance: Serve as the controllership authority for Operations allocation methodologies within CP. Validate that allocation logic (activity-based costing for FC Variable via GAM, FC Fixed via FAM, transportation via TFS) is producing accurate unit-level outputs. Ensure methodology changes are reviewed, approved, and documented before implementation. Govern the transition of federated ownership to Operations teams while maintaining accuracy standards.
    • Improvement Validation & Implementation Oversight: Validate proposed accuracy improvements for Operations cost lines before production launch. Review simulation results, assess edge cases, and confirm that improvements meet controllership standards. Ensure that implemented changes achieve their intended accuracy impact and do not introduce regressions.
    • Governance Mechanisms & Reporting: Maintain Operations accuracy metrics and progress reporting for the Governance QBR. Surface non-compliance, unresolved variances, and systemic risks to leadership through structured escalation. Produce governance artifacts including audit documentation, remediation plans, and methodology certification records.
    • Cross-Functional Partnership & Influence: Partner with Operations Finance, TFS, GAM/FAM system owners, PI product teams, and regional Marketplace STOs to drive alignment on allocation methodologies. Represent PIF in cross-functional forums on Operations cost accuracy. Influence partner teams without direct authority through quantified impact, structured governance, and escalation mechanisms.

    It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

    Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
