Where will Amazons growth come from next year? In five years? Which product lines are staged to quintuple in size, and which ones are mature?

These are some of the most important questions at Amazon today. North American Customer Fulfillment (NACF) answers many of those questions every day. Our Fulfillment Centers (FCs) utilize Amazon robotics, scanning machines, and computer systems that track millions of items in a day. As part of this team, you will use data from a variety of sources, build accurate predictive models, support field finance in cost initiatives, and deploy automated software solutions to provide forecasting insights to senior leadership (C suite) driving decisions that affect millions of customers globally.

NACF Finance is looking for a Finance Manager (individual contributor) to be the trusted finance partner in our Controllership team. Experience with this team opens up several career opportunities across Amazon, e.g. senior roles supporting different business lanes, project management roles, and/or management opportunities locally, regionally, and globally.

This role will partner closely with a broad range of Finance and business leaders in Sales & Operations Planning, Production Planning Team, Central Accounting, Internal Staffing Agency, Procurement, Human Resources, Safety, Quality, Reliability and Maintenance, and Technology; as well as with research scientists, technical product managers, and software developers. This role will design, develop, and maintain Weekly Business reviews, Monthly Business Reviews, performance measurements and reporting on strategic input drivers to the Automated Sortable Network Directors and Regional leadership.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated an ability to influence business owners, support thoughtful decision-making, and adapt to a rapidly evolving environment. Regular collaboration with executives and various business units across Amazon will allow you the opportunity to exhibit your verbal and written communication skills. A typical day in this role, provides an opportunity to improve and create new measures for cost out initiatives, innovate creative solutions utilizing large scale data mining tools, identifying high priority work/projects to maximize results for key stakeholders, and solve complex problems effecting company wide strategic decision-making.

Key job responsibilities

FP&A

  • You use solid financial knowledge and business acumen to build financial models and analyses with little guidance and draw conclusions and make recommendations that deliver results, and drive improvements.
  • You manage development of weekly and monthly financial reviews, forecasting, and reporting models and their continuous innovation and communicating to Financial and Operations partners.
  • You identify and solve complex data integrity issues and collaborate with stakeholders on resolution, insisting on the highest standards.
  • You identify the need for improved controls to address risk driven by business, industry, policy, and regulatory changes and proactively propose control solutions.
  • You create effective business partnership, manage competing priorities, and provide guidance during unexpected events.

Business Analysis

  • You identify and implement opportunities to resolve finance issues, improve, scale, or simplify finance tools, technology, and processes across teams and organizations.
  • You understand how data flows through our financial platforms and know the right data to use for analysis, and establish a source of truth.
  • You simplify and centralize process improvement and reporting to allow business partners and customers to take action quickly.

People

  • You take part in hiring and developing activities and mentor new team members.
  • You seek, value, and leverage diverse perspectives.
  • You have backbone and challenge business partner plans and assumptions when needed.
  • You communicate data in a clear, concise, and unambiguous manner both verbally and in writing.
  • You can articulate complex finance issues to non-Finance partners.

A typical day in this role includes: solving complex problems effecting company wide strategic decision-making, leading through ambiguity, identifying high priority work/projects to maximize results for key stakeholders, designing and implementing new financial reporting/modeling, and finding creative solutions utilizing large scale data mining tools.
