At Amazon, we"re working to be the most customer-centric company on earth. Operations is at the heart of what we do, delivering hundreds of thousands of packages each day and fulfilling customer orders from all over the world. Amazon is seeking a Finance Manager to help own critical functions within the rapidly growing Middle Mile org.

This role sits within the Middle Mile FP&A team and directly supports the US Sort Center network. The Finance Manager will serve as the go-to planning expert, leading quarterly, annual, and long range forecasting cycles that define how the network operates and grows. It"s a rare opportunity to operate at the 10,000-foot level, understanding the full strategic picture of the network and translating that into financial plans that guide executive decision-making. From there, you"ll partner with a diverse set of stakeholders and senior leadership who drive execution across the business. Beyond strategic planning , the role also includes ownership of broad, cross-functional projects from integrating emerging business lines into existing processes or spearheading efforts to embed AI-driven solutions into how the team plans and operates. The combination of strategic influence, executive exposure, and a wide stakeholder network makes this a high-visibility role with broad impact across the organization.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong financial modeling skills, technical aptitude to work through large data sets, and the ability to clearly distill analysis into insights for stakeholders at all levels. They will support sound decision-making and thrive in a fast-moving environment. Collaboration with leaders and business units across Amazon is central to the role. On any given day, you can expect to build creative analytical solutions using large-scale data tools, model the financial impact of key strategic decisions, prioritize the work that moves the needle most for stakeholders, and tackle complex problems with company-wide implications. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential, as regular interaction with senior leadership is part of the job.

Experience on this team opens up varying career opportunities across Amazon such as transitions to other business lines, project management roles, and/or management opportunities locally, regionally, and globally.

Key job responsibilities

  • Lead overall Middle Mile Sort Centers financial planning by building cost bridges, partnering with key stakeholders to craft narratives for senior leadership, and distilling key insights on the impact of KPIs on our performance.
  • Drive process simplification, standardization, and automation across planning workflows to improve speed, quality, and scalability.
  • Provide financial support to business partners on key initiatives that improve the quality of deliveries, speed of delivery, and/or reduce costs.
  • Identify risks, evaluate impact, propose changes, and implement improvements to remediate gaps.
  • Proactively partner with managers to prioritize and focus on high-impact activities and de-prioritize those unlikely to drive material improvement.
  • Mentor and develop team members, fostering a collaborative environment that promotes operational excellence and work-life harmony.

Amazon.com Inc

At Amazon, we don’t wait for the next big idea to present itself. We envision the shape of impossible things and then we boldly make them reality. So far, this mindset has helped us achieve some incredible things. Let’s build new systems, challenge the status quo, and design the world we want to live in. We believe the work you do here will be the best work of your life.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
