    Position: Finance Director

    About the Role

    We are seeking an experienced and commercially focused Finance Director to lead the financial management and performance of the organization's insurance and investment businesses.

    The Finance Director will oversee financial reporting, FP&A, budgeting, forecasting, management accounting, regulatory reporting, treasury, financial controls, investment accounting, and performance analysis.

    Working closely with the CFO, CEO, Investment, Actuarial, Risk, and Business leadership teams, the Finance Director will provide accurate financial insight and ensure strong financial governance across the organization.

    Key Responsibilities

    1. Financial Leadership

    Lead the day-to-day finance function and ensure effective financial management.

    Translate business objectives into financial plans and performance targets.

    Provide financial analysis and recommendations to the CFO and senior leadership.

    Establish strong financial discipline across business units.

    Support strategic planning and business decision-making.

    2. Financial Planning & Analysis

    Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning.

    Monitor actual performance against budgets and forecasts.

    Develop financial models, scenario analysis, and management reports.

    Identify trends, variances, risks, and opportunities.

    Provide actionable insights to improve profitability and efficiency.

    3. Financial Reporting

    Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.

    Ensure accurate management accounts and consolidated financial statements.

    Coordinate statutory reporting and financial disclosures.

    Ensure reporting is delivered accurately and within required deadlines.

    Maintain appropriate accounting policies and procedures.

    4. Insurance Finance

    Oversee financial reporting and analysis across insurance operations.

    Monitor premiums, claims, reserves, commissions, expenses, and underwriting performance.

    Analyze loss ratios, expense ratios, combined ratios, and underwriting margins.

    Work closely with Actuarial, Underwriting, Claims, and Risk teams.

    Support financial analysis of insurance products and portfolios.

    5. Investment Finance & Accounting

    Oversee accounting and financial reporting for investment portfolios.

    Monitor investment income, realized/unrealized gains and losses, and portfolio performance.

    Work with the CIO and investment teams on financial analysis and reporting.

    Support investment valuation, performance measurement, and portfolio reporting.

    Ensure investment accounting and reporting comply with applicable standards and regulations.

    6. Treasury & Cash Management

    Monitor cash flows, liquidity, banking relationships, and funding requirements.

    Maintain appropriate liquidity for operating and insurance obligations.

    Support treasury strategies and cash optimization.

    Monitor interest-rate, foreign-exchange, and liquidity exposures.

    Ensure appropriate treasury controls and reporting.

    7. Capital & Solvency Support

    Support the CFO in capital planning and balance-sheet management.

    Monitor capital adequacy, solvency, liquidity, and leverage metrics.

    Provide financial analysis for capital-allocation decisions.

    Support stress testing and financial scenario analysis.

    Work with Risk and Actuarial teams on capital and solvency assessments.

    8. Regulatory Compliance

    Ensure timely and accurate financial and regulatory submissions.

    Maintain compliance with applicable accounting, insurance, tax, and financial regulations.

    Coordinate with regulators, auditors, tax advisers, and external consultants.

    Maintain strong financial controls and documentation.

    9. Internal Controls & Risk

    Maintain effective financial-control frameworks.

    Identify and mitigate financial reporting and operational finance risks.

    Strengthen accounting policies, procedures, and approval controls.

    Support internal and external audit processes.

    Ensure appropriate segregation of duties and financial governance.

    10. Performance Management

    Develop financial KPIs and performance dashboards.

    Monitor business-unit profitability and cost efficiency.

    Analyze revenue, expenses, investment returns, and operating performance.

    Partner with business leaders to identify opportunities for improvement.

    Drive financial accountability across departments.

    11. Finance Transformation

    Improve finance systems, processes, reporting, and data quality.

    Support ERP and financial-system enhancements.

    Drive automation of reporting and finance processes.

    Improve management information and real-time financial visibility.

    Promote data-driven financial decision-making.

    12. Team Leadership

    Lead and develop finance, accounting, FP&A, reporting, and treasury professionals.

    Establish clear objectives and performance standards.

    Develop finance talent and succession plans.

    Promote a culture of accuracy, accountability, integrity, and commercial partnership.

    Candidate Profile

    Essential Experience

    10–15+ years of progressive finance experience, including significant management responsibility.

    Previous experience as Finance Director, Financial Controller, Head of Finance, Deputy CFO, Senior Finance Manager, or equivalent.

    Strong experience in insurance, investment management, asset management, banking, pensions, financial services, or another regulated financial institution.

    Strong knowledge of financial reporting, FP&A, budgeting, forecasting, treasury, and financial controls.

    Experience working with senior executives, auditors, regulators, actuarial teams, investment professionals, and external advisers.

    Proven experience leading and developing finance teams.

    Preferred Experience

    Experience covering both insurance and investment/asset-management operations.

    Exposure to life insurance, general insurance, reinsurance, pensions, or institutional investment.

    Experience with investment accounting and portfolio reporting.

    Knowledge of capital, solvency, ALM, and regulatory finance requirements.

    Experience managing finance across multiple subsidiaries or jurisdictions.

    Experience with finance transformation, ERP implementation, or reporting automation.

    Education & Professional Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or related discipline.

    CA, ACCA, CPA, CMA, CFA, or equivalent professional qualification strongly preferred.

    MBA or Master's degree is an advantage.
