REMOTE FINANCE DIRECTOR - UNITED STATES
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Finance Director to lead financial planning, reporting, analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and strategic decision-making across the organization. This remote leadership role will partner closely with executive leadership and business stakeholders to improve financial performance, strengthen controls, optimize cash flow, and support long-term growth.
The ideal candidate combines strong financial and accounting expertise with strategic thinking, excellent communication skills, and the ability to turn complex financial data into clear business recommendations. The Finance Director will oversee financial operations, develop actionable insights, and lead initiatives that improve profitability, forecasting accuracy, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Lead corporate financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial modeling.
Develop monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting packages for executive leadership.
Analyze revenue, expenses, margins, cash flow, working capital, and operating performance.
Partner with executive and operational leaders to develop financial strategies and business plans.
Own annual operating budgets and rolling forecasts while monitoring performance against financial targets.
Build and maintain financial models supporting strategic planning, investments, pricing, headcount, and resource allocation.
Provide financial analysis and recommendations for new products, markets, acquisitions, and major business initiatives.
Lead variance analysis and identify the operational drivers behind financial performance.
Improve forecasting accuracy through data-driven analysis, scenario modeling, and business-partner collaboration.
Oversee cash flow forecasting, liquidity planning, working capital, and capital allocation.
Establish and strengthen financial controls, policies, processes, and reporting standards.
Partner with Accounting to support month-end and year-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
Ensure financial reporting complies with US GAAP, company policies, and applicable regulatory requirements.
Lead financial systems, reporting automation, dashboard development, and process improvement initiatives.
Identify opportunities to automate manual finance processes and improve reporting efficiency.
Present financial performance, risks, opportunities, and recommendations to senior executives and stakeholders.
Manage, mentor, and develop finance professionals while establishing a high-performance team culture.
Collaborate with Accounting, FP&A, Operations, Sales, HR, Legal, and other cross-functional teams.
Support audit activities, tax planning, internal controls, and compliance initiatives.
Develop scenario analyses and sensitivity models to support strategic and operational decisions.
Monitor key financial and operational KPIs and establish actionable performance targets.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen scalability, profitability, and financial visibility.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or related field.
15+ years of progressive experience in finance, FP&A, corporate finance, or financial management.
5+ years of experience leading finance teams or managing significant financial functions.
Strong knowledge of financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and variance analysis.
Advanced understanding of P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, working capital, and financial statements.
Strong knowledge of US GAAP and internal financial controls.
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including financial modeling, PivotTables, Power Query, and advanced formulas.
Experience with ERP and financial systems such as NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Workday, or Microsoft Dynamics.
Experience with business intelligence and reporting platforms such as Power BI, Tableau, or Looker.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate financial information to non-finance executives.
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, distributed environment.
Strong leadership, mentoring, and stakeholder-management capabilities.
Preferred Qualifications
MBA, CPA, CFA, or other relevant advanced professional qualification.
Experience leading FP&A transformation or finance modernization initiatives.
Experience with financial planning platforms such as Anaplan, Adaptive Planning, Planful, or Pigment.
Experience implementing financial reporting automation and data-driven finance processes.
Experience with SQL, financial data warehouses, or analytics automation.
Experience supporting M&A, due diligence, integration, or corporate development activities.
Experience working with SaaS, technology, professional services, manufacturing, or other complex operating environments.
Experience managing remote or geographically distributed finance teams.
Strong understanding of KPI development, profitability analysis, unit economics, and scenario planning.
