Finance and Accounting Manager - Aerospace & Defense Manufacturing

A growing aerospace and defense manufacturing company is seeking a Finance and Accounting Manager to support its Brockton, MA facility. This role will focus heavily on actual cost accounting, manufacturing finance, inventory, job costing, financial reporting, and operational accounting for a defense-oriented manufacturing organization.

This is a strong opportunity for someone with hands-on manufacturing accounting experience who can own day-to-day accounting operations, strengthen cost accounting discipline, improve financial visibility across the business, and partner closely with Operations, Engineering, Program Management, Supply Chain, and Executive Leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close, including journal entries, reconciliations, supporting schedules, financial statements, and management reporting

• Own actual cost accounting processes, including material, labor, burden, overhead absorption, job costing, and manufacturing cost tracking

• Analyze manufacturing variances, including labor, material purchase price, usage/scrap, overhead absorption, and inventory valuation variances

• Monitor inventory valuation, reserves, WIP balances, cycle counts, physical inventory, and manufacturing close processes

• Support budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, margin analysis, indirect rates, and financial reporting by product line, customer, and program

• Partner cross-functionally with Operations, Engineering, Program Management, Supply Chain, and Executive Leadership to improve financial visibility and internal controls

• Support ERP system improvements, automation, reporting enhancements, dashboards, KPI reporting, workflow improvements, and accounting documentation

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required

• 5+ years of accounting experience in a defense manufacturing environment

• 3+ years of cost accounting or manufacturing accounting experience preferred

• Strong actual cost, inventory accounting, job costing, manufacturing variance analysis, and financial reporting experience

• Experience implementing or optimizing an ERP system such as Infor Visual, Costpoint, Epicor, LN, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar

• Strong Excel skills required

• DCAA, FAR, CAS, government contract cost reporting, indirect rates, program accounting, or multi-site manufacturing experience is a plus

• CPA or CMA is a plus

• Strong communication, leadership, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
