Our client is seeking an experienced Filtration Systems Engineer to take ownership of the design, development, integration, and ongoing improvement of industrial coolant filtration systems used with high-precision CNC and machine tool equipment. This is a hands-on engineering opportunity for someone who understands filtration technology and enjoys taking complex mechanical systems from initial concept through detailed design, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
In this role, you'll work at the intersection of mechanical engineering, filtration technology, fluid systems, and precision manufacturing. You will develop new system concepts based on project requirements and customer needs, translate those concepts into detailed 3D designs, perform engineering calculations, and collaborate with cross-functional engineering and manufacturing teams to bring projects through completion.
The ideal candidate brings meaningful hands-on experience with industrial filtration systems along with a strong understanding of pumps, valves, piping, coolant systems, and related mechanical equipment. Experience with CNC grinding, machining, or other high-precision machine tool environments is especially valuable.
This is an onsite position, and a relocation package is available for qualified candidates.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and integrate industrial coolant filtration systems for CNC grinding, machining, and similar high-precision equipment applications.
- Develop engineering concepts based on new project requirements, internal handoffs, and customer feedback.
- Translate initial concepts into detailed system designs using 3D CAD and engineering analysis tools.
- Perform engineering calculations involving system flow rates, filtration efficiency, equipment sizing, and other fluid-system requirements.
- Develop and maintain 3D models, assemblies, engineering drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and related technical documentation.
- Evaluate filtration technologies, system designs, and filtration media to identify opportunities for improved performance, reliability, and efficiency.
- Oversee and support prototyping, assembly, testing, trials, and equipment run-offs for new and modified filtration designs.
- Analyze test results and refine system components and designs to achieve required performance.
- Collaborate closely with Mechanical, Electrical, and Applications Engineering teams to integrate filtration equipment with CNC machinery, controls, and related systems.
- Partner with purchasing and other internal departments while communicating professionally with vendors and customers throughout the project lifecycle.
- Provide technical expertise and troubleshooting support during equipment assembly, commissioning, and startup.
- Support service teams with technical troubleshooting and field repair requirements when needed.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities focused on reducing costs, improving quality, increasing productivity, and enhancing equipment performance.
- Manage multiple engineering projects, priorities, and technical assignments through completion.
- Participate in formal and informal design reviews with internal engineering team members.
- Travel as needed to customer locations and vendor facilities for technical support, testing, commissioning, or project-related activities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline required. Candidates with 16+ years of directly relevant industry experience may be considered in lieu of a university degree.
- 5+ years of practical experience with industrial filtration systems.
- Strong knowledge of filtration technologies, coolant systems, pumps, valves, heat exchangers, and piping systems.
- Proficiency with SolidWorks 3D CAD, including modeling, assemblies, engineering drawings, BOM creation, and related engineering standards.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD 2D.
- Strong understanding of engineering principles, mechanical systems, and industrial equipment.
- Demonstrated technical troubleshooting, problem-solving, and analytical reasoning abilities.
- Knowledge of design for manufacturability (DFM) principles.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to evaluate complex mechanical and filtration system challenges.
- Ability to independently manage multiple engineering projects and competing priorities.
- Self-motivated and comfortable taking ownership of projects from initial concept through implementation and troubleshooting.
- Working proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to travel as required for customer, vendor, commissioning, and technical support needs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with CNC grinding machinery, precision machining equipment, machine tools, or similar high-precision industrial equipment.
- Knowledge and practical application of fluid dynamics.
- Familiarity with grinding and machining processes.
