Help create precision holographic and textured films for customers who demand quality. This direct-hire role at ITW (Illinois Tool Works) in Newburyport, MA 01950 combines machine setup, process control, quality assurance, and safe material handling.

What you’ll tackle

  • Plan runs and changeovers by reading the production schedule
  • Verify materials and stage inventory for upcoming jobs
  • Start/stop machines via control panels; thread and feed film
  • Align/secure rollers and blades using hand tools
  • Dial in temperature, speed, and flow; correct deviations on the fly
  • Inspect output for visual defects; perform in-process QA checks
  • Record production quantities per SOPs and job orders
  • Partner with Team Lead/technical staff to resolve questions
  • Adjust slit widths; load/unload at unwind and rewind stations
  • Clean machine components between runs (multiple times per shift)
  • Move product and parts with carts, pallet jacks, and forklifts
  • Use computer systems to print run sheets/labels and document QA
  • Follow hazardous material handling practices when using solvents
  • Build knowledge of product codes, color numbering, and formulas
  • Cross-train and assist other teams as needed

Schedules and pay

  • 1st Shift: Monday–Friday | 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM | $22–$24/hr
  • 2nd Shift: Monday–Friday | 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM | $22–$24/hr + $1.75/hr differential
  • 3rd Shift: Monday–Friday | 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM | $22–$24/hr + $2.75/hr differential

What you bring

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Manufacturing background and/or mechanical aptitude (preferred)
  • Clear written and verbal communication; sound judgment
  • Basic computer skills
  • Flexibility to support other ITW ShineMark, NA departments
  • Familiarity with 5S (helpful, not required)
  • Comfort working in a demanding, fast-paced environment
  • Willingness to work overtime, including 1–2 weekends per month

Physical and safety requirements

  • Frequent standing/walking; visual product checks
  • Manual dexterity; reaching with hands and arms
  • Ability to hear equipment, forklifts, and coworkers; communicate clearly
  • Complete a respiratory clearance exam; wear a respirator as needed
  • Lift and move up to 65 lbs
  • 100% non-smoking campus (policy compliance required)
