Field Technician ITS

Position Summary

The ITS Field Technician is responsible for performing on‑site technical work, inspections, installations, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) equipment and infrastructure. This role supports field operations by ensuring all ITS work—including cameras, sensors, VMS boards, communications equipment, and traffic technology—is completed safely, accurately, and in accordance with Company standards, project specifications, and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, repair, test, and maintain ITS equipment, devices, and communication systems.
• Read and interpret ITS technical drawings, wiring diagrams, work orders, and specifications.
• Conduct site assessments, equipment inspections, and documentation of field conditions.
• Troubleshoot ITS issues and provide timely, effective solutions to minimize downtime.
• Install and configure field networking components, cabling, and power systems.
• Operate tools, machinery, and test equipment safely and in compliance with Company and OSHA standards.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, project managers, and clients regarding work status, issues, and required follow‑up.
• Complete all required reports, logs, and documentation accurately and on time.
• Maintain Company tools, vehicles, and equipment in clean, safe working condition.
• Follow all safety procedures, including PPE requirements, hazard reporting, and jobsite protocols.
• Support project teams with equipment setup, field testing, and general ITS deployment tasks.
• Represent the Company professionally at all times while on customer or agency sites.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or electrical training preferred.
• Prior field experience in ITS, electrical, mechanical, construction, or related technical work strongly preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents, manuals, and schematics.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and mechanical/electrical aptitude.
• Ability to work outdoors and in varying environmental conditions.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks as required.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.

Work Environment

This position requires regular work at job sites, transportation agency locations, and outdoor environments. Travel between sites may be required. Work may involve exposure to weather, traffic conditions, noise, and physical hazards typical of ITS field operations.
